I would have liked to see you use the 1/4 round part of the blade for the the feather stick. Great video, lots of good info, Thank You!!

I honestly thought I did. Must be on a different video. Maybe even one of the 100+ videos YT made me delete all because I had a radio playing in the background. It was mostly all testing videos too since I was outside and usually had the radio on anyway. But yeah… It works really good when you stab it into a log or tree and pull the stick against the edge.

Great demonstration!! I had in my sights the SXB (maybe way too big), but now I'll take into consideration the SXS instead. Cheers!!

THX for helping me understand that such a atypical blade shape is functional and not asthetics (alone).

🍻 Yeah a lot of thought went into it. They tried to cram everything into 1 blade but they actually did it successfully. Even skinning game it's near unmatched by its rivals. I think you'd fall in love with this one the way it performs. 👊🍻

2 great knives, you can’t go wrong with either of them. The SXS fells a bit better in my hands though and it’s more versatile.

I agree 100%. The SXS excelled at everything I’ve thrown at it. I still use it 2 years later more than anything else. 🍻

Great video !! I for one love 1095 steel . It requires some cleaning and care , but that’s part of the fun !!

Agreed!! 90% of the best survival blades ever made have been 1095. I like to resharpen my blades after use anyway so I honestly cant tell the difference between that and some of the super steels sometimes. Besides how easy it is to clean the edge back up. 👊🍻

Oh yeah...no surprise the SXS likes to chew up some wood like that! That blade is made for it!! Thanks for the demo brother!!

Yessir! It definitely is. Out of all the blades I own, its been my go-to blade for almost everything. I love its versatility. Thanks for stopping by 👊🍻🙏

Lol yeah it does. I’ve had it over a year now and had hundreds of other knives. It’s still my go-to fixed blade.... for everything. I actually found that one out by accident though one day messing around. The SXS is by far the most versatile knife I’ve ever used. If all you had was that knife to survive... You’d be doing pretty damn good.😂🍻👊🏼

What would have been nice to see with the SXS, is if you can draw up with the quarter-round for feather sticking, like the Tom Brown Tracker.

I’m probably gonna have to do an update video on the SXS tbh. Maybe I can include a few more things of that nature. YT made me delete about 70% of my fixed blade videos because I had a radio playing in the background with unlicensed songs. One of which was a little more in-depth but… It still deserves another nonetheless. That’s one of those knives I couldn’t recommend enough to people. Out of the hundreds I own it is hands down my favorite workhorse.

Good 1095 high carbon always beats any stainless steel as far as edge sharpness capability and ease of sharpening in my humble opinion. Stainless has its place on a leatherman or swiss army knife thats about it as far as I'm concerned on knives. Then again I live in a desert...

1095 is much more user friendly imo. People fail to realize that you can’t bring your $200 sharpener everywhere you go… And you damn sure aren’t putting any sort of working edge on any type premium steel with a small ceramic rod. Not after it loses that initial apex anyway… So I would much rather a good differentially treated 1095 over the ladder.

I couldn’t agree more. When you add up all the “pros” this knife has, it’s a no brained when choosing a survival knife. I just wish more people knew about it.👊🏼🍻

Great comparison I’d still take the bob imo

The BOB wouldn't let you down that's for sure lol. If I wasn't using them side by side you honestly wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Other than the chopping and maybe skinning. Still not much though. 🍻👊

1095 might be good enough for bushcraft, but not long term survival. Then you definitely do not want something that rust if you can avoid it. 1095 is there for to main reasons; easy to work with and cost
@Tier1GearEDCReviews
@Tier1GearEDCReviews 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah especially depending on where you live in the world. A regular carbon steel blade in leather turns into a humidifier herein the south. That’s why my choice steel is nitro-v. It’s the easiest steel to maintain I’ve ever seen. And that covers all aspects. Sharpening, cleaning ... etc.

It’s Tops Bob 154 CM good as 1095? Thank you bye

Yep. 154cm is one of the best user steels you can get. Still Tops does an excellent job on their 1095 and you can't go wrong with either. Thanks brother.🍻👊

1095 is if you do not have/want to spend the extra $ for better durability. Depends on what you are going to use the knife for. Is it supposed to be your go to knife, bug-out and/or long term survival knife? Are you going to trust your life on it? How much is that worth? Then, now what would you pick?
