👍 Nice review, thanks. I hope no one criticizes honest mistakes in transposing names. Interesting the same designer is involved with both knives. I must admit I am not TOPS fan, but have had good luck with Condor. New England? I was raised in Southeast Massachusetts. My parents had a Summer home in Laconia, NH. My Dad was raised in both Rangeley and Sabbatus, ME. My older brother lived in Auburn, ME. And, my Mom was raised in the town of Orange in Western MA. I now live in TX.

I wasn't into Tops back in the day. Kinda expensive for 1095 but their craftsmanship is always excellent. Born and raised in Rhode Island. Now in Arkansas. Quite a difference!

Thanks for the kind words, brother, and the shout-out. Awesome review , I agree the Condor feels like home when I hold it. The Tanimboca doesn't bother me, but after using it and then grabbing the Trivitatta, your hand says, "Oh yeah, that's better" 😂 Cheers 🍻

I have one basic rule when comes to buying a knife. Don’t buy on when they use Phillip screw to hold the handles on. 😊. I like and own a number of Tops and Condors and think I like the condors better. I have people tell me Condors heat treatment is substandard but I’ve never had a problem with them holding an edge.

My 1095 Condors are all good steel!

If you would have asked me which of these two were the most expensive just based off looks, I would have said the condor, to me it just looks the part, I think it would feel way better in the hand and definitely like the blade profile much better! But that said you can’t go wrong if you have them both!😅

I finally pulled the trigger on one of these. It came with a wavy grind and the sheath looked like absolute crap. The rivets didn't go all the way through etc. Reached out to Condor a month ago. Still waiting for the replacement they said they'd send. I spent $123CDN on this knife. Not exactly a cheap knife by my standards. And now, waiting for an email... Very disappointing. I thought Condor had put thses issues behind them. *Sigh* Whaddya do? 🤷🏼♂️

Oh man sorry about that. They were doing much better lately but i guess one slipped by. They replaced a broken knife for me in the past so hopefully they'll hook you up.

I have a Puukko knife that I like (The M95 Ranger Puukko). The Condor Puukko is the knife in this lineup that I like. I know that many do not like the idea but I like the idea of a guard on a knife, even if it is a small guard, and I like the overall aesthetics of the condor.
@CommonCentsOutdoorsman4 ай бұрын
Yeah, that's a good one. A little bit is all it takes for a guard I agree.

I really like both, the Skookum is a very versatile basic design and works well. I own the Condor one myself too and will be buying the TOPS too at some point. Good comparison and a good video. Greetings from Finland!

Thanks for an awesome review. I've just got the Trivittata, and my first impression is really good. Mine goes into the sheath so both rivets are hidden - you might be able make yours ride as deep as the Tanimboca, if you push the knife in a bit further.
@CommonCentsOutdoorsman6 ай бұрын
Thanks brother. You are correct. The sharp edge at the front of the handle is digging into the side of the sheath. I need to take the corners off a bit then it should be fine. Thanks for the tip!

Nice comparison! I get Cold Steel and Condor confused in my head. I have the Terava Jakarripukko (sp?) 110, and it's a great knife. I do like Condor, so I might pick up the Trivittata someday. I think the Tops is out of my price range. Cheers!

For me this is day and night. As a useful comfortable for prolonged use, the Tops gets slaughtered. I it is incomparable. Tops blade is a great tomato slicer or skinner. But Tops blade is no wood working blade. And Tops knives, please fatten your handles to make them worth buying for woods use. At 4:50 handle thickness may be compared. The Trivi is fat but still the Tops will be to slim except as at meat or vegetable or allround processer knife. Great video, thanks sharing some thoughts.

They are close. It comes down to preference. Hope you enjoy whichever one you get or have! Thanks for the great comment brother@

Condor Trivittata has a better handle but steel is too soft and it rolled on me while I feather sticked on poplar. The Tops Tanimbocca has better steel toughness also rolled but after good use. Handle is decent.
@CommonCentsOutdoorsman6 ай бұрын
Oh man sorry to hear that brother. Maybe a bit more of a relief edge will help?
@cocovasquez16 ай бұрын
@@CommonCentsOutdoorsman I’m not sure but it’s a zero Scandi and Condor’s heat treat is questionable. How is your Trivittata holding up on the edge?
@CommonCentsOutdoorsman6 ай бұрын
@cocovasquez1 Mine was not zero. Had a small relief edge that I scandivexed a bit. Holds up fine. Try a ceramic rod and put the slightest bevel until it holds. Should still cut fine. Condor is not always perfect with their edges but they're better than years ago.
