small explanation: "比翼の鳥(bird with 2 wings)" is a Chinese legendary pair of birds, where each bird has one wing and eye on either side. they appear blue and red. The only way they can fly is with eachother's help. This is used as a common idiom, but is reserved for the love between a "man and a woman." Here, we see that bird presumably dead, and instead there are 2 girls with one wing each, because there is no set or wrong gender for love. i don't know japanese, but "比翼の鳥" seems to mean "happily married couple" based on a translator anyways. i'm assuming it is because it's a common idiom. other than the birds, there are also 2 white roses. Roses are a common symbol of love, and white is a symbol of purity, both concepts seen throughout the video. 2 roses mean requited love, which is seen at the end! i probably missed a lot, this is just the basics. also, happy pride month! love who you love, you are not dirty or impure. 🤍

Sometimes it’s kinda wild seeing something that is pretty straight forward with its themes on gender and sexuality. The way the singer describes their situation feels sorta familiar though that might just be me projecting onto it. Like the one in shorts that’s me I want to be that. It’s perfection. The idea that queerness is somehow wrong and being able to say screw that is something that slips my mind sometimes even through I, myself, am queer. This also feeds into my sort of fixation on butterflies. I had a fixation on angels first though because it reminded me of faith and freedom but after I realized I didn’t identify with the gender I was assigned at birth I came to really love butterflies as a metaphor for change. A caterpillar was always meant to be a butterfly and it takes a while for it to form inside its chrysalis. This speaks more towards my gender rather than my sexuality. Mostly because I don’t understand why it would be wrong to love someone regardless of gender. Though this brings forth my own internal feelings on how gender plays with sexuality and how it can complicate a relationship because you’re not entirely sure what it is you may want from that person, if they’re even okay with it in the first place. Truly amazing work
