I want to install it on top of a shipping container roof. However, I am thinking of putting a thin layer of wood between the torchon and container roof. Will this help to insulate from heat better than without the wood) and insulate against potential water leaks? Is it easy to repair if the container gets scraped during transportation? Thanks

many tanks for your video, ignore the negative comments, it gives one sufficient idea to undertake torch on roofing as a DIY. Much appreciated. do not be put off from posting your videos despite you know the fact there are always going to be somebody picking on your faults, like as if they were born roofers from day 1.

I think this is an informative video to show clients what's involved in there new flat roof being laid, good on yous and its ranking high on KZfaq so who cares what the haters think. In my opinion that roof will last a good 20 year and the client will be happy with that.

If you've got Tim to sit at a computer or on your phone and take the piss out of the way people are doing a job more than likely you sitting at home with maybe a few jobs here and there you're basically jealous. I am in the process of building a 10'x8' shed. I have an 11mm OSB pitched roof in Dublin that I'm looking to finish in Torched felt. Can I assume I need an underlay and the felt cap? where would you recommend I purchase them...I have seen a lot of SHIT caps (non-torched) around and refuse to put that muck on my roof.
@Chris-jl6vk3 жыл бұрын
You need underlay but you can't torch the first layer needs to be nailed down

Both plys should be ran parallel to each other....not perpendicular. You didn't flash the walls separately. You're walking on the roll while torching it rather than the preferred method of caning and you're burning about 4" and kicking it out 8" only worrying about the bleed out and not making sure you have total adhesion. Other than that....not bad.

Got a nice bleed but the scorch marks are nice. And you set it out all wrong the felt runs down to the lowest point not across which causes water checks. The whole point of a flat roof is for the roof to best flat as possible to let water run off more eaisly

What happens if you cross bond mate
@shady.2194 жыл бұрын
Several issues occure with cross bonding , you cause a build up that will be 4 high on a 2 layer system it will stick out like a sore thumb, you also have lap on top of lap on both underlay and cap sheet that creates a potential weak spot all the way through in lots of places , also all laps should run to the gutter or low point to high point it should not run parallel it causes raises areas obstructing water flow to the gutter

Not putting enough heat on 3/4 of the roll though he does do a good job on his field seems. Like I said, this guy has some skill but needs to train under a real red seal journeyman to finish his training!!
@Brandon-no3vc2 жыл бұрын
@@martinjvillasenor773 what happens when you walk on it ? I see alot of ppl doing that even the ones who pull it with cane infront of roll once they get to the end the stand on it so they aren't walking backwards. Do you use a bar in the rolls for the seams or do you have someone rolling for you or do you roll yourself or do you just stand on it or what do you do
@martinjvillasenor7732 жыл бұрын
@@Brandon-no3vc when you walk on a just torched roll, the modified asphalt in that roll gets displaced from the pressure of someone’s body weight. Almost all manufacturers recommend you pull the roll, not push. Just because a lot of people here on utube do it improperly doe make it right! If you install any manufacturer inspected work, they will insist u don’t walk on freshly installed sheets until they have cooled off . . . depending on ambient temperatures of the day but usually around 5 to 10 minutes
@martinjvillasenor7732 жыл бұрын
@@Brandon-no3vc as u install a sheet of modified material, from experience you learn to position yourself from having to walk on your just torched material. As you approach a roof edge, you start a different roll in the direction away from the perimeter so you eliminate some fall potential. If u are working at a perimeter, you need a fall protection system to keep the installers safe.
