Really intelligent reaction! I usually tell reactors to appreciate how Tori did this or did that, but you really seem to know what you're listening to. I generally comment on her seemingly endless vibrato, which is so gorgeous it's moving, but you picked that up. The killer about Tori is that she puts together videos by using her TASCAM multitrack deck and her Pro Tools pro-level sequencer. She's so incredibly good at singing that she has the gall to be a brilliant engineer too! She's overwhelming. If you're ever amenable, she has a video at her site in which she demonstrates how the Carpenters overdubbed. She sings the individual parts into the multitrack deck one at a time, then plays all the parts back at the same time. I've heard this recording several times, and I cry every time I hear it. :)

Hi Jesse, She really knocked it out of the park with this. I was there in the church and did iPhone record her. It was boomy, the piano came in hot and coughing and other distractions. Tori killed it and you can still tell in my video and the official video. I’m so glad she re-recorded it. A little history on the song. Written by Richard Carpenter and Cynthia Weil it was for Karen and the next Carpenters album. Karen died before even hearing it. In 1987 Richard released his solo album, Time. He recorded this song with Dusty Springfield. A beautiful rendition, of course but not what all the fans were hoping for. A few years ago, younger (17ish?) Tori was asked by the followers to try her hand at this song. She did. It was only a short, but the what if questions and begging for the full version started. When I arrived at the church and was handed the program seeing the line up and songs. Tori had Yesterday Once More (which she performed a couple of weeks before the church at her first live performance near home in Minneapolis. And “Something In Your Eyes” listed. I knew what we were in store for but even I with iPhone in hand was blown away. I guess 80% of the attendees had no idea who Tori was. Let me say, in the phone recording you get a better idea of the ovation. To this point the previous performers all got lovely respectful applause. We were in a special church, where Karen had her funeral and Richard married Mary. After Tori, the place went “nuts.” The rest of the night was much stronger applause as the valve had opened and people felt OK to emote. None were higher than what Tori received. Lisa Budin-Price one of the performers, a singer from Australia and veteran said “Tori was the voice of the night.” No higher praise I think! She was the only singer to perform a non-Carpenters song. Hey Jesse you surprised me! Thanks for featuring Tori again. The only way I can describe her voice is timeless. She is bringing real music back again! I'm not sure if you remember the background of this song. This was written by Richard Carpenter for Karen. However, she passed away before she could record it. It was recorded at the time by Dusty Springfield. Tori recreates and reimagines the song at the 55th anniversary tribute here. It is very easy to imagine that it is Karen singing it and she certainly would have approved. Great job and I hope all's going well with you.

I came across Tori a few months ago. She is Karen Carpenter reincarnated!!! Impossible to tell the difference between them!!!
