“Tories Are Terrified Of Another By-Election” MP Suspended Over Alleged Misuse Of Campaign Funds

An MP has lost the Conservative whip while the party investigates claims he misused campaign funds.
Mark Menzies is alleged to have used thousands of pounds given by donors to fund medical expenses and to have made a late-night call to a 78-year-old aide asking for help because he had been locked up by “bad people” demanding money for his release.
The Fylde MP disputes the allegations but the Conservative Party is looking into the claims and taking them seriously.
A spokeswoman for Chief Whip Simon Hart said Mr Menzies had “agreed to relinquish the Conservative whip, pending the outcome of an investigation”, meaning he will now sit as an Independent MP.

I think the the may elections will be the tipping point for Sunak. They'll be traditionally a low turn out, but that is not going to be good for the Tories, as we've seen in the by-elections Tory voters are firmly staying at home. I wouldn't be surprised if he resigns or triggers an election. The country is so stagnated and stale.

It's also worth pointing out this is not the first time hes been involved in a scandal. In 2014 he lost a government position as a result of an allegation that he paid a Brazilian rent boy who was an illegal immigrant and whom he asked to supply illegal drugs.

I notice this story broke the day after MPQ's despite the tory party knowing about this for weeks. Perhaps they think it will have 'blown over' before the next PMQ's. Fat chance!

well the police already look into it once as said that there nothing there. The only reason it be open again is because of pressure from the tories, like they did at beer gate. I think it telling that she willing to resign if anything is found, you normal dont say that if you are covering something. Labour do have one or two bent MP but at the moment Labour are far a better option than the Toires because it seem all of Tories are bent.

Can't Angela act like a Tory for once in her life? Act as a landlady, with a bit of time-sharing as and when necessary and maybe skip a bit of tax at the end of it... Compared to the average Tory financial scandal, it's nothing.
