Ok here is where the vac is useful. With the canister installed and filled with an apc, the tornador sprays everywhere and makes a huge mess while it’s working(if that makes any sense 😂) the velocity vac keeps the liquid from making a huge mess. It does work well when used with the liquid. Try it out on vid #2! Great video but the tool does work better when using it how it was designed to work.

I hear that! it just seems crazy to me to spray an apc while vacuuming if dry soil removal is my goal. i don't want everything getting muddy. I might try this for door cleaning...

I can see your disappointment, but see this unit for what it really is and use it to its full potential. I've had my eye on this combo for a while now. You've helped me decide to get it. In my humble opinion, I would do a basic vacuuming first, to remove the big stuff..bear in mind, this is a "detail tool". After first vacuuming(and using a drill brush if necessary), I would then go to the problem areas and re-use a drill brush.. then the tornador. Give plenty of time for the compressed air(80-90 psi) to do its thing. You would by now be going after very set in and deep particulate. Slow and methodical is the way to go. If it still persists, now is when I would use the liquid function of this tool. Thanks for a great vid, you did quite well show a lot of the limitations, but at the same telling, you've convinced me I do need this in my arsenal.... Again, thank you very much.. Well done!

good video editing and presentation. You're fair and honest with out being harsh on the limits of the tool's design. Since being a restoration cleaner for 35 years in Arizona cleaning carpet and upholstery I first thought the idea was brilliant but also felt that the package was too long and awkward to use in such tight spaces in auto interiors. I am a product designer and have made restoration cleaning tools over the years. This concept is good but needs to be revamped seriously. I just may work on one as long as I can do it without infringing on the patent. Perhaps the owners of this design are open to a revamp?? Keep progressing brother.

Curious if the right tool for the job and saving about $50 would change your opinion. I myself just came across this video cus I may get a Z-020 for my motorbike, curious if the ZV-020 would be worth the addition for the car, being that i would run a wet application. If you think about what's happening here, you're getting excellent suction from the vacuum and not a great deal of air pressure entering into the carpets before the moving air is being drawn back up the hose into the vac. It sounded like your hose had a leak where your brass fitting was connecting to the tornador. I agree it's bulky; the head design has no need to branch off so sharply and as a by-product of this sharp branch off its introduced limitations in its reach into tight spaces. Increase the air flow, and either match or lower the suction power so you can let the compressed air flow in and do its job of lifting the dirt before being drawn up the vacuum tube. It's not gimmicky, it needs refining.
@HawkProDetailing
@HawkProDetailing 4 жыл бұрын
You're so right. I have a better compressor now (in a shop) and I'll bet this tool would be awesome if it were tuned up/tuned in/refined lol. But that day in my driveway was me being honest in the moment
@user-ue7mw7hg7n
@user-ue7mw7hg7n 4 жыл бұрын
It's just food for thought, remember it has a recommended maximum PSI and if you flow too much air through the tool it can also cause damage to the brass fittings and internal components. I'm really looking forward to you're upcoming content, and greetings from Australia. Detailers here battle a lot of dust and high temperature conditions, the more videos you have of this type of equipment helps us all. Don't be in too much of a rush to bring us content, sometimes a planned out step by step testing and preparation is needed to get a balanced test. One last thing, do you have a recommendation for a) a chemical that dissolves bulk sticker residue on large paint surfaces but doesn't negatively affect paintwork like harsher solvents do? b) a technique or chemical you would use for removing chewing gum and similar substances that can accumulate from neglect of vehicle combined with children?

It shines when you use it to deep clean. I would do most of the vacuuming with a traditional vacuum attachment and pick up as much as you can. Try using the Tornador as more of a deep and thorough clean. You can quickly go over the carpet dry and then try using it as an extractor with apc or degreaser. As far as the hose is concerned, I attached the Tornador whip hose to a 20ft hose and duct taped it together. I only use it for the Tornador and it increases speed compared to a traditional hose....

1. Duct tape is your friend. Box tape only seals well on flat surfaces and isn't flexible enough for a hose. 2. Without the air-powered water jet cleaner, this test is useless. The water jet must also have the proper air pressure. 3. The vehicle in the test wasn't dirty enough to use the water jet alone or with the vacuum attachment. 4. Try it on a really dirty thick carpet floor mat, with and without the vacuum. Clean and damp or clean and wet will be the result.

ok i think you have a major air leak also compressor is to weak you probably need to be running 140psi 17cfm for it to run efficiently. if tornador wants to send me a test unit let me know ill be willing to do a video because i have been hesitant on buying this due to the price and gimmicky nature. but i do see its potential. love your honesty BTW great video

Bro, you screw the hose end into the supplied adapters... And those adapters are reverse threaded, there's no need for tape nor extra adapters from outside sources...

To me it never made any sense to have compressed air flow pointing *out* inside the same tube that the vacuum flow is trying to draw into. It seems to me that using an air nozzle in one hand pointed mostly *toward* a vacuum nozzle you're holding in your other hand would provide better dirt extraction and also be a lot easier to fit in tight spaces. Even if someone wanted both air nozzle and vacuum nozzle in the same tool, it sure could be a lot less bulky than this kludgy rig.

bummed that it isn't the tool you envisioned...You looked really disappointed in it...like a kid with a defective christmas toy....And, the gyrations you had to do to connect the damn thing.......horrible. But, don't worry, you do an awesome job with whatever you're using, and that is the goal...caring about delivering great work. Looking forward to the next video (by the way, great to see you whip out the drill brush even if only as a supplement to this test)

Hawk Pro Detailing that’s a California it should definitely be doing better than that. I guess it’s just old you should rebuild it. Love how quiet those California’s run.

No your problem is your fittings aren’t are tight. Your hissing air all over the place. Add some Teflon tape get a 3/8 air fitting for all your tools and ramp that bitch up to 125 psi not only that but your adapter to your vacuum they sold you tapers off to a very small hole. Cut it to the size you need use some zip ties or automotive metal clamps to tighten the hose instead of tape. Fkexzilla and harbor freight sell a very powerful air gun for like 15-20 bucks. Check it out. You’ll fall in love with it. I have both and they are very similar. Also I think the tornador was made more for a carpet extracting type vacuum since they have some serious power on those. And most of not all detail shops have one. Ok after all my bullshitting I think I’m going to try the dam tornador out. I’m super curious now. Thanks for the video man good luck! I’ll subscribe.

One of those things that’s better in theory. You should just get the Tornador Blow Gun.

My point of this is that itll take to long and like you said best technique is to keep down flat like a vaccum and I think itll take to long as a detailer.

True but it’s not to wet but to help where you using the drill brush. as some people use a spray dilution of fabric softener to loosen the fibers .. on the website they show it better picking up with the control valve using liquid

Line up your equipment down the center of the driveway. Then when you're ready to switch sides, just pull the vehicle out and park on the other side.
