Toronto Freeways - Oshawa to Hamilton - Highway 401 and 407

Drivelapse video of Highway 401 and 407 through the Greater Toronto Area starting from Oshawa on the 407 and heading westerly along the 401 through Durham Region, Scarborough, North York, Etobicoke, Mississauga before rejoining the 407 in western Mississauga and then following it through Halton Region to its western terminus with the Queen Elizabeth Way and Highway 403 in Burlington. The video then follows the QEW across the Burlington Skyway to close out the video.

I drive the 401 from whitby to toronto pretty often. I've been fascinated how the city has grown, there are a lot more skyscrapers than there used to be!

Love Toronto during the summer and fall months. Got a lot of my relatives living up there. Another great video of driving in the Toronto area.

Love the trance music you put in your videos! And those Toronto freeways are huuuge!! Something I noticed, that is easy to complain about being particularly bad in my own city, is that the lane discipline is just as bad in North America as it is here in Australia 😂

Nice work! I drove one time from Hamilton to Mississauga by only using the 403. You should do a video from Kitchener to Fort Erie. Anyways keep it up!

Honestly this video kinda reminds me of how the GTA used to look like during the COVID-19 lockdown, almost no cars at all! Personally, I think that driving on the GTA when traffic is good is a lot of fun, altho I never had the chance yet. Happy St-Jean Baptiste, btw.

The 412 off ramp to the 401 has now become such a massive bottleneck on the 401. You essentially have the Lake Ridge ramp and the 412 ramp both merging into a 3 lane highway. Something really needs to be done about it now that 412 is free. Will it? probably not. Great drive and thanks for sharing AP.

The westbound 401 through the 412 is almost as bad as the eastbound 401 through Salem. I've lost all hope for Toronto traffic. I think it's pretty much just always going to be terrible.

If this drive was filmed 3 years ago, that happened after you drove the 407 east to take the 412 south to eastbound 401 and end at the 418.

Question, why are the highway signs on the 407, and 401 blue while the rest are green?

Blue signs are used for the collector lanes to quickly distinguish them from the express lanes. They also use blue signs on toll roads in order to distinguish them from free roads.

A video avoiding 407 would be more useful. Harmony Rd to 401, 401 to 427 then QEW to 403 to Main St East Hamilton. 407 is the longer route and toll from Oshawa to the 403 cut off in Burlington is true highway robbery. Shortest route Hamilton to Oshawa is 401 west to Don Valley Pkwy, then Gardner Expressway to QEW the 403 to Hamilton . Notice how empty 407 is from 401 to 403 . Alternate routes are just as quick but busier. I go to that junction on 9th Line and Steeles often from Hamilton without using 407.

I think that some viewers like seeing footage of the 407 because of its high cost they may not otherwise get to experience driving along it.
