If people do this, will the Toronto Police Service be paying to replace people’s vehicles? Police do nothing about auto theft. I have family members who are having issues with auto theft and car break ins on their streets. Police are called, a report gets taken and submitted, and nothing gets done about it. Something needs to be done about all these auto thefts and home invasions. People should be able to own a vehicle not worrying it will be stolen and have a right to safety in their own home. Police don’t want to deal with it? Then the politicians should loosen the gun laws and allow people to legally own hand guns, and also make or change the “stand your ground” laws in the country. If someone is robbing me or stealing from me, I should be able to do what’s necessary to retake possession of what’s attempting to be stolen or do whatever I have to do to protect myself and my family, and not have to worry about getting charged because some goof ball is stealing my car or trying to break into my house.

Go to your local garage and ask them to install a kill switch in a hidden area. No power means no stolen vehicle. The thieves won't spend time trying to figure it out, they will move on to the next victim. I would say have it installed on every car by law but then the thieves would know where to look. If you don't drive lots you could always just pull the fuel pump fuse every time but that will get annoying.
