WOW I think you just reminded me of the ONE question I asked the local transmission rebuilder who sold the Remans transmission of my wrecked transmission back to the mechanic who charged me the mark up. The mechanic told me the shop and so I called up the shop to ask that question!! I never said I was the customer getting the 4l60e remans. thanks

How’d you get to get to the bolts that meet the flex plate and torque converter? ( 4x4)
@Modified1
@Modified1 2 ай бұрын
Through the space where starter goes. And spin the flex plate by hand to get to all 3. Then install the starter.

@Wheelsss unless your engine is blown or locked up it will turn. You might be on a compression stroke so use a large flat screw driver/pry bar or a flywheel turning tool and spin the engine over to get to them. It's the only way.

if you got this done just by using the book, and everything works, it would be super impressive.. ALOT of things can be put in wrong. we watch the video we have and replay segments several times to make sure we get it right,, even with the vid, we accidently put a bearing in the wrong spot, and couldnt get the snap ring on above the planet gearset.. a few love taps with the hammer and we smashed the bearing,, we got another one and figured out where it went,, we are 90 percent complete now. also found a better way to get the teflon seals on the input shaft without nicking them,,, the seal installation tool strethces them way too big, them you have to deal with that.. so we used an XXL MAGNUM condom,, cut the bottom ring off the condom,, slide it over the shaft, lube it up with trans fluid, then work the teflon rings down the shaft.

That's a great idea. I bought the aluminum Teflon shrink tool off of eBay and was surprised at how good it works!! Dude, the trans works awesome!! Got lucky and installed all bearings correctly. 1 day to take it apart and 3wks to put it back together!!

@@Modified1 I bought the aluminum seal resizer and it tore one of the seals, so I took some 1000 grit sandpaper and polished the inside of it, especially the transition inside the tool.. it made all the difference.. you should feel a great sense of accomplishment for nailing it the first time,. what kind of threw us off is stopping and starting while we ordered and waited on other parts that were bad and not in the kit.. if we had everything we needed, and broke it into like 3 stages over 3 days, I think it would go alot smoother..

@oracle wisdom I used a lot of lubeguard trans goo assembly lube and it made everything go smoothly

@@Modified1 I found that the seals went in alot better with just the trans fluid, in some cases the assembly goo was too sticky and thick.. ive been doing alot of research and something to watch out for is a bad MAP on these trucks will kill a trans QUICK.,they affect line pressure,, so if u get a check engine light for the MAF, or TPS, even O2 sensor, dont let it ride, change it out. here in central texas its hard to find a good rebuilder, they are a dying breed.

its awesome to see some real fathers still out there teaching thier kids,, so many kids dont know how to even change the tire on thier cars.. they cant open a box of cornflakes without the damned internet.. I would put my son up against anyone his age as far as what he knows how to do. and im damned proud of that. you should be too. weve rebuilt a chevy v6, now were doing a transmission. I taught him how to repair appliances, weld, trubleshoot and repair automotive systems,. light carpentry work, how to catch fish, how to hunt, and some martial arts. how to service HVAC systems, septic systems,. the list is endless. we always have 3 or 4 projects going..

@@Modified1 3.73 I need 456. ..I've thought that could be why but it had more power before I got it rebuilt..do you know if maybe I need to take it back to my tuner after getting trans rebuilt..I've thought that may be a reason too
@Modified1
@Modified1 Жыл бұрын
@C Towne the stall really gets it going, the gearing multiplies the engine output even more than the trans. Unless your tune has an early shift(below 6000rpm) you'll need gears or shorter tires. Also with 3.73's say your stock tire was a 265/70r17 (31.6 tall) going to a 35" tall tire effectively makes your gear ratio a 3.37:1 and that's a way heavier tire. I'd use tow haul everytime I went anywhere. You've got plenty motor, but now on highway gears with those tall tires.
