In this week's Wednesday episode, Patrick and Stuart encounter a large ceiling collapse in a 1st floor bathroom in the chateau, brought on by a small hole in a roof tile combined with endless days of torrential rain. They work to clean up the mess and to get a temporary patch in place to try to prevent further damage. Patrick and Stuart also show progress in the chateau Petit Salon with the installation of the central chandelier.

I swear, if it's not one thing, it's another- no matter where you live. Michigan had early morning stroms roll through before 6:00 am yesterday. Torrental rain, hail and winds clocked at 70 mph. We lost power just before 6 and we were out untill 11 pm. My son is 10 minutes away and they won't get power until tomorrow. Out of state linemen were called in yesterday and they had to bring more poles. It's a mess in these parts. I'm sure you have it handled after the inital tears. You got this gentleman.

That is terrible. We remember the huge storms in Illinois. 😮😮😮. Stay safe. Stuart told me and we gathered brooms etc and started to create a path. Cleaned up the next this morning. Moving on. 😂😂😂. Hugs ❤

I could not hear if you say that if you could get a ridiculous price for the lamp you will let it go or not let it go. Well that is a beautiful lamp, but when I look at he mirror and the lamps at the back of the spot where you're sitting in this episode, I will say that a crystall chandelier will also fit beautifully with that setting behind you. Then you can use that lamp in another room.( just my meaning from what I imagine from my point of view)

I must say that I admire your ability to deal with the ceiling collapse and then laugh about it. Most people, myself included, would react with doom and gloom. But, as chateau owners you have dealt with worse. I love watching you renovate and restore with so much energy and passion. I can’t wait to see how the two new bathrooms will eventually turn out and I’m so looking forward to see what’s in store for the petite salon. I do love the light. It’s beautiful!

This episode was a story of two ceilings. I’ve got to say, I preferred the 2nd story. I know you did too. These things are sent to try us, so they say. Ah! My heart sank for you two with the ceiling falling down ❤ 😢 I watched Tony and Jane's garden being under threat of flooding. The awful weather, it seems, has reaked havoc in France. The silver lining to the disaster is that the hole in the roof has shown it’s ugly face now and you are able to deal with it before you renovate the bathroom?! It would have been a tragedy if it had been all finished beautifully before discovering the roof leak. The restored light is absolutely gorgeous and if you have doubts about it being in this room Patrick, perhaps use it in a Napoleon themed bedroom? Stuart could design the room around the chandelier and it would be beautiful. My thoughts are that once the wallpaper goes up you will have to live with the style for a number of years, so if you have doubts, then now is the time to change or rearrange? What ever you two decide it will be fabulous.❤️❤️

Guys the weather has been horrendous everywhere. Flooding, roads washed away, land slides it’s so wet so you are not alone. In Canada we haven’t had to water the garden in over a week and our humidity was up to 45 last week and still in low 30s now. Yet go west and Alberta is frigid!! ❤

There is nothing like being on your way to bed and finding out your ceiling collapsed. I've been there before. I am just happy you and your fur babies are all OK. Too bad you have to wait 2 years for a roofer! Yes, you did have a lot of rain this year. The flooding was crazy. Watch, next month you could be in a drought. I love the new chandelier. I look forward to Friday for wallpaper choices. I am praying for rain for Labrador. A small town was evacuated for almost a week now due to forrest fires burning. Very scary. A lot of my family have opened their homes to evacuees. I am happy to see you keep your spirits strong and carry on.❤

I have a 1956 ranch house in the USA ......I had my entire back living room ceiling fall in 3 minutes in January. Radiant heating system from that time frame, cement plaster, insulation, electrical lites, and heating on my furniture . My cats scrambled at great speed and then swoosh and thump and the ceiling was down. I wish I was there to help but believe me you have my prayers and good wished to work with this. All my love , but it did get the mess cleaned with the help on my neighbors and a new ceiling. I also had all of the other ceilings reinforced and I recommend screws with 1" washers. Dear Patrick Great job fixing the small hole in the roof that produced sooo much mess. The chandellier that is above the stairs is magnifique, it is sooo beautiful, with all those glistening large crystals. Lemons and lemonade.......glad the fallen ceiling was not more extensive and that it was in an unrenovated bathroom....quite a shock to be up in the night doing such labor intensive work! I'm waiting for weeks to have someone look at one of my chimney caps that is partially blown off. However, I love that chandelier - it's probably even much prettier in person. If you're not married to it, at least you like it enough to have hung it love you fellas. hugs!

I was surprised to see the bathroom ceiling and the roof leak. Your positive perspective in handling this issue was exemplary. Things happen and it’s how you deal with them that matters. Good grief if it’s not one thing it’s another…oh, wait, that’s the chateau way! Your humor and can do attitude is commendable…I’d probably have had a good cry over the whole ceiling debacle 😂. But yes, always the silver lining and we’ll look forward to cheering you on through that renovation when the time comes. Patrick, that light fixture is drop dead gorgeous! I am your sub with the chandelier fetish, so I understand it may not have the same bling as a crystal chandelier. But it has a whole other wow factor. It’s very unique and the shades for the bulbs are just beautiful. If I wasn’t a continent away I’d be there tomorrow to happily pay you to take it off your hands. Stuart, you did a fab job with the music and editing the scene when Patrick crawled through that small space in search of the source of the leak. Queue the violins! Aloha, oh my word, that was crazy what the rain did to your beautiful bathroom. Water Power, yikes😱! Yes, thank goodness nobody was in that room at the time, especially your babies. Must look at the silver lining. I actually REALLY love the chandelier, it’s masculine and definitely makes a statement without being too - too, if you know what I mean. No matter how gorgeous something is, you never know how it’s going to look until you actually put it up and see for yourself. Hello Stuart and Patrick, I’m just back from my aqua class. I see you have had a bit of an aquatic adventure yourselves . Sorry I shouldn’t have said that. I know everyone says well nobody was hurt or it could have been worse . Those are all well meaning phrases but I could see it in your faces that this really knocked the stuffing out of you both. So sorry about the ceiling. A few years ago, unknowns to me, bees built a mud nest in the drain line to the central air unit. The drain pan in my attic couldn't drain and overflowed......I was still unaware of any it until.... about 3 am I was woken up by what sounded like a elephant crashing through the ceiling. I ran up to discover water pouring over electric wires and my ceiling lying on the floor.
