Yeah he liked her before too, but she wasn't interested in him per say. Granted she thought he was sweet, but didn't develop a real attraction until her mind started to go as a side effect of the mutation He does say he liked that they both had obsession with miniature devices, Sam with his gameboy and Dakota with her phone, but that's about it from what I remember. Though I liked how after she transformed he said Dakota got ten times more awesome. As he puts it.
