all i do is look at the post, try remember where it is, look at the point of the ball i need to kick and then just ram it through with the laces part of my shoes

slightly odd that jonny's kicking coach is preaching about landing on the kicking foot yet wilkinson himself doesn't do this

Ahh! Makes sense. What I find funny is there is no American football tee that allows the ball to be tilted forward! We've had it wrong the whole time! Love donning the pads and helmet, but can't argue results!

Difference is in the shape of the ball. A rugby ball is rounder than an american football, so even though tilting it forward means you have a greater margin for error, with a lot of practice you can still be accurate and powerful consistently. If you tried tilting an american football forward, the margin for error is even greater thanks to the point, to the extent that no amount of practice could master it

I've played American football for years and was a place kicker. I am now a Rugby place kicker for about 10 years now. The tilting of the ball away from you does'nt work with a football as it does with a Rugby ball because of the difference in shape. The results would be so much different.

Help me out Rugby guys. I was a place kicker (American Football) during my high school days. The biggest difference I'm seeing here is the angle of tilt the ball has on the tee. I notice that you rugby guys tilt the ball in the direction of the goal posts. When I was kicking, I always tilted the ball the exact opposite direction; towards me, the kicker. That angle gave me more margin for error and helped me gain lift. How does tilting the ball away from the kicker help in rugby?

the further you tilt it towards the post the further you will be able to kick it, in theory, the more upright you place the ball the more hight you will get! i dont know about kicking an american football! never don it for posts! but everyone likes the ball positioned differently! everyone has prefrences!

Not even a keeper to beat! How do these pros miss? Especially the kicks that are fairly close! They have nobody to beat so no power or curl is needed just accuracy and they still miss! Good at chasing the eggs but can’t kick a ball to save there life’s
