Addressing the apparently limited number of settlements getting Slaves - they're distributed my Province, not by Settlement. Darren only has 5 Provinces.

Um slavery was a mechanic in rome 2. If you had to many slaves you could have a revolt. Slaves increased income but lowered public order. The system is simply expanded in the warhammer 2 version, allowing you control of where the slaves go.

I think the control and visibility of it is what I am most excited about. A lot of the old mechanics were in the back end buried under layers that obscured their influence and how you interacted with them.

agree with you invicta .. slightly less mechanics with a lot more use and polishe and (visuals) is what i prefer over the old ways... although i would like to see in the next historical title more mechanics especially if u look at the medieval ages: a better political system and a nice way to represent religion would be a must have for me

thats what I hated about slaves in rome. You had no real control and to me they were more of an annoyance

I'm really happy that CA now experiments a bit more with features, especially after the very bare-bones TWW I. But am I the only that finds it a bit sad that they try to sell us features out of older games? Bridge/Chokepointbattles, Food for the Scaven (which was implemented in Shogun2), Slaves for the dark elves (Rome I), etc. I really liked TW Warhammer I, just because of the setting, BUT at no point it immersed me, it always felt very arcady. I hope they try a bit more in the sequel.

Slaves and food are both very different here than in past games. You could never distribute slaves to specific places or use food to quickly upgrade a ruined settlement.

Lafayette Roberson Plus slavery is a very important factor of the dark elves

Yes, and thats exactly what I like, that CA puts more effort in these features, but I always think: couldn't they give them at least mort than one or two? All these RTS developers try to dumb down their games to appeal to a wider audience, which just doesn't exist in this genre. I just want a bit more complexity in TW.

i like warhammer it is one of my favourite tw now and atm the most played.. even if i never heard of warhammer before the game and i am a hardcore history fan, warhammer is the best thing that could happen to the series... playground for future titles, resources for the next games.... total war needed this: a large breath and a good way to learn what is the way the succes (and joy for the fans)

I just take issue that you think CA is 'selling us' old features when these are pretty unique in their implementation and also lore. Other economies have slavery but only the Dark Elves are reliant upon it and the Skaven food mechanic is reflective of their unstable society. And they have added features with Black Arks and hidden settlements. Yes there is a bit of dumbing down in Warhammer but not as much as you think.

the rite at the far right in the end of the video showed a ship unit that could only be recruited in port cities.. did the say anything about naval battles? I heard it wasn't confirmed, but thay unit is kinda suspicious..

tdp2 Naval combat is going to be autoresolve only. As for the ship its a black ark. They are basically minicities that float. You can recuit units and stuff on em.

So slaves are kind of like the peasant mechanic for the Bretonnians only you have to capture them in battle rather than from how much land you hold.

It's actually historically accurate. Peasants (farmers) in erurope during the feudalism ages were like a legal version of slavery. Thats why the french revolution exploded

isnt that already a mechanic in Rome2? The more slaves the more income you have but also the more slaves you have the more suffers the public order
