If nothing else, hear at 22:57 Süßer Trost, mein Jesus kömmt, BWV 151, a heavenly piece of music honoring Christmas. No doubt one of the greatest and nicest pieces of emotion in music of the history of music.

"Herz und Seele freuen sich..." und sagen Dankeschön dem Orchester, Sängern und Dirigenten sowie dem Filmteam für diesen wunderschönen Ausschnitt aus Bachs unerschöpflichem, unsterblichem Werk. Das Konzert war mir Trost und Ermutigung - es erhellt wie je dunkle Zeiten und sei allen empfohlen, die an ihren Zumutungen bisweilen verzweifeln möchten.

Supremus superlativus et unicus contratenor. Imaculatus et sine rephreensione solus (10:55). Todavia, é curioso como sinto a voz do Andreas apagada no quarteto de vozes. Sinto que a magnífica voz dele não resulta aqui interagindo entre as dos outros três cantores.

Bach si hubiera deseado que los coros de sus cantatas fueran reducidos a 4 cantantes? Quizá nunca lo sabremos, pero de acuerdo al libro publicado por John Eliot Gardiner, "La música en el Castillo del Cielo", Bach envió una carta a sus superiores quejándose por los pocos recursos vocales de los que disponía para la interpretación de los "conciertos de iglesia" (cantatas). Se podría pensar que, si bien es posible que la cantidad de músicos y cantantes que podía utilizar eran reducidos, la intención al componer éstas impresionantes y majestuosas obras no era para ser interpretadas por un grupo minimalista de músicos y cantantes. Es mi opinión.

Isso também depende do tamanho da sala e da qualidade das vozes. Esta interpretação parece-me muito equilibrada. Vê-se e ouve-se com grande prazer.

@@helenaramos5343 A sua intervenção também é muito astuta. Ouvindo presencialmente lá na sala, não sei como terá soado. A mim, aqui ao ouvir este vídeo, amiúde tenho a sensação de que a orquestra de câmara está descolada dos cantores. Quase como se estivesse a orquestra numa sala, e os cantores noutra... Ou seja, não sinto sonoramente este dois grupos devidamente "cosidos" um ao outro,

It depends. E. g., how tall is the (physical) room´s space of the performance. Would result this camera ensemble in a big cathedral?

@@purussonus9313 C'est le ténor qui est allemand; le contre-ténor est espagnole. Et bien que les musiciens eux-mêmes soient paneuropéens, l'ensemble Ricercar Consort est belge.

Je venais de voir/entendre Andreas, aussi, dans une video session parsemée et entrecoupée au hasard de Carlos et d`Andreas, et je me suis trompée là en écrivant ce commentaire... (En plus, j´ai connu personellement Carlos dans un master class en Éspagne...) Et bien, quand même tant l´un que l´autre ce sont des contratenors exceptionnels...

I imagine this is a beautiful performance without ads popping up every few minutes. I can understand ads at the beginning or the end but ads sprinkled throughout a performance like this shows an unforgivable lack of respect for the music and the performers. If you just want to make as much money as possible, you should stick to posting something less artistic like tractor pulls or cat videos.

It's no good blaming Total Baroque or Ricercar Consort for ads that are placed there automatically by KZfaq software. If we don't want to pay for a KZfaq+ (or whatever they call it) subscription, then we have to put up with ads, just as we do with over-the-air television we don't pay for.

No, the conductor's ego is not that shaky; he hired them, for pete's sake. The person who uploaded this video simply neglected to type their names out. They are Maria Kehoane, soprano Carlos Mena, alto Hans-Jörg Mammel, ténor Stéphan MacLeod, basse

the musicians, though very talented, are not connected at all! They sound very hesitating and searching....I think the rythm/conducting is not clear....
