I also saw Led Zepplin in the late 70’s. There are NO words to describe the concert. Extremely smoky arena. Joints passed the entire time. Lots of LSD and nothing but pure rock musical talent. They are undeniably the BEST rock band of ALL time. This is my favorite song.🎼A beautiful rock ballad.I love the reactions of the younger generation. I feel incredibly fortunate to have grown in an time of ☮️and💟. ✌🏼✌🏾✌🏿

One of the things I love about this band is how they 'feed' off each other and take cues from each other. The guitar piece in this is extended, but John Bonham can tell where Robert Plant is going and slides right in. Same for John Paul Jones. You see this even more on the live version of Dazed and Confused.

Robert Plant has said that Hot Dog was a light hearted nod to rock-a-billy music. Plant loved that genre growing up and was greatly influenced by it. It’s a genre that became super popular in Britain in the fifties with the skiffle bands. So many of the musicians who were a part of the immense “British Invasion” of the sixties and seventies grew up playing in skiffle bands. They were everywhere. Zeppelin in their career concentrated mainly on their other major influences...Delta and Chicago black blues, and English folk music. But late in the game, they wanted to just give a light nod to rock-a-Billy. Personally, I don’t care for that style, but Robert seems to love it. Post Zeppelin, when he was starting his solo career, he put out an album called The Honeydrippers, which had allot of rockabilly on it. Not my bag....

Welcome to arguably the greatest rock song ever made. After 40+ years, this is the one that always gets me deep down. I do prefer the album rendition, however. EDIT: As a side mention, one of the things that I always loved about Zeppelin music is that it would transport me elsewhere and take me on a journey, often by way of some kind of archetypal truth...a spiritual and primal shared reality. Stairway is a perfect example of that.

Hi!! I haven't visited your channel in a while. You've done such good reactions to their music and so glad you've revisited. It's hard to realize that this music is 50 years old. . . Jimmy had this double neck guitar made so that he could recreate the studio sound of the song without having to change guitars mid-song. Gibson had stopped making them in 1969 except for special orders (of course they've been back in production since the late 70s due in part to Page's use). Top is a 12 string, bottom is a 6 string. Jimmy uses it on several other songs live - The Rain Song and The Song Remains Same to name a couple. I'm happy that you're going to delve in to some more LZ. Jimmy's original idea for LZ was that in addition to spectacularly produced studio albums, the band's songs would be crafted to allow them to improvise when playing live. And THAT THEY DID. Their first totally live (ie not lip-synched) FILMED gig was back in March 1969 in Denmark - before their first album was released in England/Europe - it shows that they were clicking on all cylinders and in tune with each other from the very beginning - here is the link to a short set of 4 songs (about 30 min) from the first album - quite a switch audience wise from this reaction you just did!! They'd been together less than 6 mths at this point - pretty unbelievable! You can see the beginnings of the fantastic band they created. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oZOHhsV-vJ2mgJc.html AND another suggestion - there are some officially released and unofficial filmed performances, but there is a huge body of bootlegs (audience recordings and recordings from the band's audio person's sound boards) of their live performances from 1968 though till they disbanded in 1980. Some are not so great audio wise and others are phenomenal! I can count on one hand the # of reactors who have tapped into these recordings - and every one of them has been blown away. One of my favorites is from April 27, 1969 Fillmore West San Francisco - the Fillmore performances started the word of mouth and underground radio promotion of the band that blazed across the US in 1969! LZ went from a supporting act to the ONLY act on the bill in a few short months in 1969. This is a cover of a R&B song by Garnet Mimms As Long As I Have You - with other things improvised in the middle - from Spirit, Jethro Tull, Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters and others - a tight powerful jam (rhythm section is 🔥🔥) showing off the musical knowledge/creativity of the group at this young age. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mZ2CbK6Cq5yrc4k.html It is awesome - hope you'll check it out.
