There is one VITAL step involving the wireless charging that is necessary for your phone to charge. If you remove your wireless charging the phone will function BUT the phone will not charge. The above video explains everything.
Making a clear Galaxy S8 has been on my mind for a few days. I wanted to take Samsungs newest flagship phone ad add a little bit of spice to the appearance. Taking the newest Android smartphone and converting it in to a more retro appearance of a clear Gameboy Color. What do you think? For all who want to customize their s8. One info which is not mentioned in the video. NFC module is also a part of the wireless charging module. When you remove it you will not be able to use NFC transactions again

Kawaii Senpai I disagree. I think it should be an opportunity for a small company or a larger one that wants to add this project to there " mobile modding " section. I just don't see Samsung taking all the time to mass produce these when only a select few will even consider purchasing a clear back that's not interchangeable. Just my thoughts thou..

@Leopold Agreed. I use wireless charging much more often than I do with charging it with a cable. I mainly charge it wirelessly in order to greatly reduce the wear and tear of the phone's USB-C port. It's already used plenty though because that's how I transfer files to and from the computer.

tried it yesterday; worked out well apart from one thing to note: the plastic frame up top and to the side does have a function to support the glass. I reinstalled the glas backing with the proper, precut adhesive and upon medium pressure between the upper edge of the frame and the camera lens it easily shattered. I kept the frame and will reinstall the upper part of it, together with some adhesive, to make the phone not quite as prone to breaking when I get my new backing in the mail. just a heads up.

@@HaxxorElite Well, the colored film is actually a rather important structural part; took no more than 24 hours for it so go south completely, aka being reduced to a pile of shards. If attempted I would heavily recommend NOT removing the NFC-Coil, as that cushions the glas as well as getting a clear, rigid case to go over it to make up for the missing film. I reinstalled a colored back again, tbh. ^^

For a video that could have been just a simple tear-down and explanation of how to remove paint, you managed to make a really fun and creative experience. The variety of shots in the cinematography, from the point of view shots in the store and the alternation between overhead and table level perspective to demonstrate the process and show off the internals of the S8, make for a really immersive experience. I also really appreciate the seamless, no-nonsense editing, showing only the best shots and keeping the pace lively and fluid. Your videos really kick ass. Love the dry humor as well. Keep up the great work!

Im replacing the battery in my old s8+ (battery is still in the mail) and well removing the old bloated battery I kept thinking how beautiful the inside of the phone is and how I wish the glass was clear. Thus googling happened and I am here lol, thanks for posting this and showing how simple it will be to do this. My s8+ is no longer my daily phone so I am not worried about water resistance and all that but I will still keep the wireless in there. Side note I have about these phones, the inside design is amazing from a repair stand point. Lots of connectors are pogo pins or zifs, no need to solder or heavy skill things inside! Hardest part is opening it unless you had battery swell and then you can just effortlessly/carefully peel the back panel off lol. I wish more phones were still made this way or all phones were really.

Good idea but let's add to it shall we..when you receive a call on this clear Galaxy S8,the back will light up a neon blue,red,purple,green,pink or black light or white..or which ever color you choose in settings.Then the neon light will turn off when the call ends! I did this mod to my s8 and it looks great however removing the wireless charging portion made my phone come up with a message saying the phone was too cold to charge even after putting under a heat gun And getting it warm

So I just clarified my s8 and I was able to peel it off just like in your pixel video, but you can use paint stripper if you like... But where you initially started scratching there was a clear edge around the glass and you can slide the razor under it and peel it away in 10-20 mins

Thanks for this info! I just asked if there was a way without the chemicals. I was getting a headache just thinking about all the fumes. I want to do this to mine. Just waiting on the extra back glass to arrive first. Because I know I'll break it removing the glass from the phone. 😂

Remove the color? You put the print out on top of the glass therefore covering the color.

Once the S8 back glass is removed, just immerse the glass in hot water for about half an hour. The lamination can be peeled off from an edge. I have done it and it works flawlessly. @jerryRigEverything.

If you manage to separate the coil from the black adhesive you could maintain the wireless charging and keep the looks.

That's not possible. This coil is conductive and exposed could lead to shortage. That black "adhesive" is just an isolation.

Your clear Game Boy reminds me of the clear DualShock 1(PS1) controller I had. It had a green tint to it but transparent and you could clearly see all the boards and wiring inside the controller which was pretty neat.

Why would you insult him? He obviously doesn't know much about assembly/disassembly of mobile phones. Even though this is pretty easy, to a novice this would look very difficult.

I really like things that you can see through at the same time it has a clear cover over it, because it looks very cool, especially when it has Leds inside of it.

Its kind of cool. The phone was made to be closed and not transparent, so if you want to make a transparent phone it has to start as a completely new project from scratch. Maybe every component inside including the screen can be designed to be visible on the flip side.

Also do not remove the wireless charger unless you really want it to be useless. The wireless charger controls the ability to charge with the cable. I folded the flaps on the wireless charger pad and one screw to where it gets contact with the motherboard, I cut off the frame to see the top. Thanks for your idea.

ATTENTION IF U WANT TO DO THIS!!!! all the black plastics that he cut contain antennas like bluetooth, wifi and mobile. your reception WILL suffer quite a bit if you do this. it will still work but be wear!!!
