Late reply, but I do recall in one of the old Transformers comic series that Shockwave actually WAS a former Prime. Maybe this is some obscure reference to that fact? EDIT: I was wrong, he wasn't a Prime, but a Senator.

In the old Marvel Comics from the 80s, Shockwave stole the Matrix from Optimus after he defeated both Autobots and Megatron shortly after their arrival on Earth, becoming the new Decepticon leader, and then used it to give life to other Transformers (back then the Matrix of Leadership was only known as the Creation Matrix).

If you ever watched Gargoyles as a kid, I highly recommend you look into NECA's new Ultimate Gargoyles line. 4 figures out: Goliath, Thailog, Demona, Bronx, with 4 more revealed and 2 or 3 more we haven't seen yet. Very nice balance of show accuracy and realism. Very much looks like high quality detailed promotional art for the show come to life. I think it'd make a cool non-robot video, but I dunno if it'd be too niche or not.

That's probably the only other alt-mode that works for Shockwave, these days, I don't feel that device transformers work anymore (I partially dislike the "shrink into small object" transformer designs if I'm honest) so a tank is a good choice for any "reboot" version of Shockwave (as well as Megatron).

I love Shockwave's angry eyebrow in Cyberverse, he looks so mad, pffft. But this one isn't even noticeable, so much so I never realised he has one, until you pointed it out. So if you don't like it, this design should be fine.

I think he comes with a matrix as a reference to how last minute the cybertron scene was. All of the models for the cybertron characters were made from bumblebee,Optimus, and shatter as a base.

Gotta be honest, my favorite part about this version of shockwave was that they fully recognized the T H I G H S. Always had to love the subtle details in the gen 1 animation that expressed this, but very few designs have expressed it since, and then this beautiful model runs out and- F I N A L L Y. THE ✨C U R V Y ✨ BOI IS HERE.

Seriously LOVE this figure. I bought him on impulse after telling and telling myself I won't relent. That I WON'T get him..... Then next thing I knew, a comically overpowered Starscream blew a hole right in budget, and I had no choice but to accept ramen noodles as my dinner of choice for at least a week

Man this one I am torn on. It looks undeniably good in robot mode but I am genuinely surprised by the lack of ratchets. I even like the alt mode although it would have been cool to integrate a light feature into that as well as the trigger you mentioned already. As always love your work.

@@sssspider Either you have ridiculously high expectations or you don’t actually have the figure in hand. It’s great for a core class figure. Detailed, half decent paint, and it competently pulls off both forms. Price point obviously limits it, but I’d say it does a great job at working around those limits. Of course we all know the real issue with it tho, which is that it shouldn’t exist. Can’t wait for them to make a proper voyager class figure for him.

@@kobeskreations6932 I do actually, and the robot mode looks great and is about as posable as you can expect for the price point. The alt-mode is kinda ass, though. I just cannot get the limbs to tab together properly in tank mode, and the gap between the legs is a LOT more obvious in person than it does in pictures. Maybe I just have a low tolerance for H-tanks, lol. If a Voyager ever gets released, I hope they're able to fill out the front of the tank a bit more so the treads don't stick out quite so much.

@@sssspider I also struggled with the tabs in vehicle mode at first. Eventually I got it tho. Agreed on the hoping for the voyager class figure by the way. Just wanting it to have the same general idea but more perfected and clean. Less robot kibble in the tank and less tank kibble in the robot. For a core class figure tho I don’t mind the flaws. It’s what I’d be expecting from it to begin with after all.

Just recently quit working at HelloFresh, it's a nightmare and hope they sink like a lead balloon someday. Stand in the same spot 10 hours a day putting ice in a box (at over 200 units per hr) with 2 half hour breaks... Also its 35F and you are standing shoulder to shoulder almost back to back with HUNDREDS of people in a gigantic white cooler. Made us take mandatory "Union Training" to discourage unionizing to fight for better working conditions. You also can't leave during your shift and there is no cafeteria just coolers with prepacked crap.

Questionable alt-mode aside, the figure looks amazing. I'd even go as far as to say I prefer it to the in movie design since I prefer the figure's slightly elongated proportions. I'm not a fan of the angry eye either but then again, I don't like this head sculpt overall. Really looking forward to that double review, too. Also, 9:54: I see what you did there. Nice

While it looks similar to Bayverse Bee it’s different - much simpler in look and detail (bigger eyes too) looks cute while looking like he can handle himself. And consider it was originally a prequel to the Bayverse and that design in general is probably his most well know to GA I get why they didn’t change it.

I know im gonna get major shit for this but, why does everyone want characters like megatron and shockwave to transform into guns? To me its just not practical for them to be basically over glorified targetmasters. Tanks for me are just practical substitures as then its like being a gun or turret without needing to relay on others to fire them. Hell my favorite decepticon megatron altmode is the helicopter from animated that works fine too but then again i am no g1 kid?(beast wars kid duh) but i just find it impractical but everyone loves when they become guns or like soundwave becoming outdated tech.

It's not about being pratical, it's their G1 alt modes, personally I don't mind it being different, but having one of those every now and then would be cool Unfortunately, the US made a law that prohibited the commerce of toys that looked like guns, that's why everytime you see an official transformers toy made in the US, it's anything but a gun (Takara is Japan, so they're fine)

@@felps_4500 I understand that its their G1 alt modes but as I said in my original comment that having gun based alt modes for Megatron and Shockwave just makes them the original Targetmasters without actual being Targetmasters, Now I don't Lump Galvatron into this mix since his alt mode being that of a Weapon Turret is slightly better since he doesn't need the use of another bot to make his alt mode work. again I just prefer the idea of if they have to be a weapon I prefer them to be weapons they can use for themselves since some of the alt modes they have taken are just excuse to have big cannons with their on use, like the Gunship Helicopter in Animated, or Cybertronian Jets/Tanks. Finally the reason I called it impractical is the fact of that Toy safety Law, the fact that anything that looks slightly like a real gun is not allowed here in the US unless it has that huge ass Orange cap on it, its why I would prefer as said a Tank or Helicopter over their gun modes.

let’s be honest, Shockwave looks really cool with the Micheal bay look. it’s not too shabby compared to the other live action looks. He is in no way superior to the new live action or G1 looks, but it’s still pretty cool
