Looking to recable your internally-routed bike or handlebars on the cheap, then look no further.
In this video, I’ll be totally recabling my internally-routed Chinese carbon fibre bike build, including my set of Toseek internally-routed carbon aero handlebars, with a Jagwire cabling kit. All for less than £5 or around $6.50.
This will include replacing the outers and cables for both the brakes and the gears/derailleurs. And as always, I try and keep things as cheap as possible, while keeping the quality of materials and workmanship high.
Got any questions or comments, stick them below 👇 and I'll try and get back to as many of you as I can!

Materials:
Cabling kit - Just search for 'Jagwire cabling kit' on eBay. There are 100s of listings for these cable kits, so I always pick the cheapest one.
Gear cables - Just search for 'Bike gear cables' on eBay. Again I don't use a specific seller, I just tend to choose the cheapest.

Great whatch, I copied your handlebar Video, one thing I did differently was not to route the cables through the bar, I knew this could prove difficult without replacing the cables for new ones, so I routed underneath the tape, when need to replace the cables this will come in very handy. Now, if may help you, bar tape holds up better if you reverse the direction as you wrap past the hoods, your grip naturally pulls back when on the tops 👍

Powdered graphite is the sh!t for cables. Doesn't attract dirt and doesn't become sticky. Widely available as a lock lubricant. I put a couple of "puffs" into each outer before inserting the inner. Even makes old outers work well again!

A tip I learned - instead of adding oil to the cables before inserting them into the outers, squeeze a couple of drops of oil into the outer's hole. The cable will lubricate the whole of the outer's (er...) inner as you push it through.

One quick question, I notice your rear derailleur cable feeds into the frame non drive side, and front derailleur on drive side. Mine opposite, but I want to do it your way - this means cross cabling in the down tube....... You notice any issues with this at all? Thanks again for your videos and associated entertainment

Hi! You have routed cable without a hose inside the frame. In bottom bracket cage the cable bend around it inside a plastic groove (6:20). Don't you bother that the cable rubs against plastic? I have recently got a new frame and I think how to route cables, fully in hoses or like you did.

Awesome intro, had be dying!! Miss re-cabelling. (As someone with a di2 and hydraulic discs) PS: I did find that buying the most expensive Teflon cable sets allows for the least friction (certainly for the longer outer segments). Cheap ones made my shifting and braking feel too heavy

Thanks rekagy, really appreciate it! But yeah I've used Teflon coated cables in the past, and I didn't feel much difference myself. But if you fancy spending a few extra pennies, I'm sure a bit of Teflon wouldn't hurt shifting performance. But yeah, Disc paired with Di2 is the dream, maybe one day I'll splash out!!!

@TraceVelo
@TraceVelo 4 жыл бұрын
Ok nice!!! So yeah all of the jagwire kits that I have had, had both 5mm brake, and 4mm gear cable outers included in the kit. But as I mentioned, they only came with brake cables, no gear cables unfortunately, so you may need to get these separately. Let me send you a link to one of the kits I used on eBay. Give me 2 mins...
@TraceVelo
@TraceVelo 4 жыл бұрын
Wow ok, so the price of these has shot up since I last bought them about 8 months ago. What used to cost less than £4 delivered from a UK seller, now costs like £10. So if you want the cables within a reasonable timeframe, then you can get them here: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152811857219 But if you don't mind waiting for postage from China, then this is the kinda thing you need: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/312874052487 And yeah, you will need to get 2 gear cables aswell, as only the brake cables are included. Also just FYI, I've never used either of these sellers, these are just examples of what you need to look for. Hope that helps :)
