About: Satisfactory
Satisfactory is a first-person open-world factory building game with a dash of exploration and combat. Pioneering for FICSIT Incorporated means charting and exploiting an alien planet, battling alien lifeforms, creating multi-story factories, entering conveyor belt heaven, automating vehicles, and researching new technologies.
This Factorio like game has heavy automation, with automated mining, crafting, and you can even automate movement!

As I watched you selecting the walls to delete and accidently selecting other items, I've realized that you may not know there is a key binding that will allow you to do a selective multi-select. I don't remember what it's labeled under in the game options, but if you set that key binding and hold it down while holding down the multi-select key, it'll only let you select one kind of item. Very useful to only select foundations under machines and belts, or only select walls around belts/pipes, etc...

@@TotalXclipse I find myself in a pattern of skipping or ignoring advanced tools, and I'm learning to be objective about it. In this case, it's not causing you any trouble because you're comfortable with extreme precision pointing. But, if your mouse is from Walmart and your hands shake a little, selective multi-select would save a lot of [screen jiggling] accidental deletions. So now I'm finally going back to figure that out. Same thing with the blueprint designer, range finder, and even my starter factory; I was slow to invest time all these things that could have saved me time and trouble in the long run.
@DistracticusPrime
@DistracticusPrime Жыл бұрын
I should try it with MicroManage. One time, I needed to adjust my precious sloped curving road, which involved multi-selecting over 100 items but not the landing. Getting that selection right took waaaaay too long. If I had used selective multi-select, it would have been a quick swoosh and done.

To create a modless savefile while you have used mods is very easy to do. Save your game and exit the game. Disable ALL mods and get back in the game and have the message (ignore it) now check if everything works and then make a new savefile. Now you can share that file with the community and they will not get the mod prompt.

Start planning to min/max the area? Prioritize pure nodes, but design the busses, roads, and rails to allow expansion to add normal and impure nodes. Choose what to process locally and what to export raw, then move all resources from regional nexus to main nexus. Start building a mall and planning hypertube launchers to yeet around map. Signs to remind users to take a jetpack and fuel before launch, and whether to walk, run, slide, or use a conveyor belt, to enter tube.

@@Warp9pnt9 The nearest pure nodes other than the oil and coal (and rare resources) are in the northeast portion of the Rocky Desert. All else are in the East in Dune Desert or Northern Forest. There's a lot of normal nodes in the Grass Plains, and they're pretty well located, esp. near the Spawning point for Grass Plains. These could all be utiliized for builiding rail and hyper networks, and to supply resources for the Hub Base here at the coast. This location might make a good nexus for the Grass Plains, but not the whole map, it's too small of an area. The Spire Coast or Dune Desert might be a good Central(?) or Main nexus for transportation and logistics.

1:37 - Whenever I would handcraft a bunch of stuff, I just place an assembler/manufacturer on a random spot on the ground (not even on a foundation), manually insert the ingredients, and come back later. It's ugly and obviously not something you would leave lying around indefinitely, but it does mean you can e.g. go scout more resource nodes (or whatever else you want) while you wait for the items to craft, and you don't have to build out a full factory (right away). The point of deliberately not using a foundation: It sticks out like a sore thumb, and you know that you have to dismantle it later, so you don't just forget about it or think it's part of a larger project.

That frustration with placement is why I stopped including bottom foundations for my blueprints, I simply not what the dimension is (Since i use the blueprint+ mod as well for up to 12x12 builds). Its much easier to place a blueprint on a foundation as it will seek a surface to land on (which was the sea floor for your battle there). The snapping to existing foundations fights horribly with the foundation included in the blueprint, vs the "blueprint" edge wanting to be on a top surface.

I think the realization that you don't have enough materials to make use of blueprints is tied to the fact that you unlocked them manually in this playthrough. I reckon that waiting for the blueprint to unlock organically makes for a smoother progression, as is intended by the original vanilla game design

Nice.. To me as someone caring for functionality more than aesthetics the blueprint size restriction just makes them all but useless to me. I would use them once you can make a 2x3 foundation and 3 stories high (9 walls). Also having to place extra, non-fitting, pieces just to be able to get another blueprint to snap on top I find tedious.

I'm not sure how the blueprints can be considered useless as they're so useful at quickly scaling manufacturing lines, even if they're not as big as desired, they save a lot of time even for simple sections surely?

That bit at about 11 minutes.... the biggest issue with blueprints. I might be missing a way to do it but if there just isn't one there needs to be a "set anchor point" so when you try and snap it to something else it is where YOU want it snapped not the game's randomness decides it should be which is usually off center.

What irks me about the BP system and setup is that it's entirely too small. The idea being that you're supposed to be able to set up premade designs for entire setups right? With some of the buildings they're just too big to use that small base area or really just skirt addressing the problem by making each section in parts. I really wish the BP designer area was around 4x the dimensions so it can properly accommodate the larger buildings with most of the parts that are intended to go with them.

Blueprints also add a container object that holds all the items, mostly to ease calculations for moving, positionkng, and snapping. But although not rendered on screen after placed, they remain on the save file, eat up memory to store them, and CPU when placing blueprints nearby. It noticeably slows my system after about 100k objects in game. Sgill, they are great to use as templates and share, or to remind yourself of a pattern. Just load the blueprint and replicate by hand. That's my compromise.
