I switched to a small cross-body bag after my daughter grew up. I will never go back to a tote as I love having my hands free when I shop.

I used to use totes the majority of the time for school and everyday life. And then I became a mom and realized how essential it was for me to be hands free with a crossbody bag! I don’t have to worry about it slipping off of my shoulder when I am juggling my 18 month old and 3 year old. Love these bags! Beautiful

I only use crossbody bags. I have a small one and two larger. I have never found that I have needed to spend even 50.00 on a bag to last for years; the key for me is not to fall for any trendy pattern or color that you get tired of. My decisions have never been based on very expensive designer brands.

I am a satchel lady- my thrifted croc embossed Brahmin bag is so well made and durable. I’ve been carrying it for years now. Vintage Dooney and Bourke are also classics- and I enjoy carrying them as well.

COACH bags have been my all-time favorites. I've had small crossovers, purses and a large duffle bag. They never wear out.

Hi Jennifer...I don't write very much but I watch your you tube regularly and subscribe. I want to thank you for the book Madame Chic. It was excellent and it ended up changing my life with food. I've been a minimalist since 1996, long before the word 'minimalist' was used. I always was pleased with my home and it was easy to clean and maintain, except for grocery shopping. I couldn't get a handle of being minimal with food. After reading your book I decided to eat like a 'European'. I started to shop twice a week because shopping in markets wasn't possible where I live in Central Pennsylvania, except for the summer. I started to make lists, write dinner on the calendar and only make small amounts of casseroles. Madame Chic resided on my side table in the living room and I referred to it often. What changed so much was my pantry. I only buy one of something I need and use frequently, therefore my pantry is only half full these days. I don't bother with coupons anymore because they want us to buy 2 (such a relief in my life!!). I plan 3 meals for 3 days, then plan for another 3 days the second day I shop in each week. Leftovers are always used for another meal if necessary and not all eaten at lunch. My freezer is finally organized with bins the way I always wanted it to be because I don't make extra meals for the freezer. I never eat between meals unless I'm extra busy, like shoveling snow the last couple days. So a big Thank You, Jennifer for making such a huge and helpful change in my life! Kay

I've carried a Portland Leather tote every single day for almost a year now. I absolutely love it and can see myself continuing with this bag for a long time to come 😊

I have used the Madewell zip top transport crossbody for about 5 years and love the black leather with contrasting brown leather handles and crossbody strap! It’s relaxed and casual for everyday 😄

The last purse you can cross the chain tucking it inside so it basically doubles the chain making it shorter. Very versatile piece.

Since I started travelling extensively several years ago, I prefer a cross-body bag so that my hands are free to pull my suitcase along with one hand and also have a pack on my back which leaves me with a hand free. I purchased a new crossbody bag last year with a narrower strap and noticed the difference the width of the strap makes. The wider the strap, the less pressure on my shoulder/back. After a while I need to change the shoulder over which the crossbody hangs to prevent pain.

I buy my hand bag at the thrift store called The Goodwill boutique and when I find something that I just love and can’t leave without I grab it and use it and use it forever. I like the crossover bag it keeps my hands free from having to grab my bag. I really like all the bags you talked about but I’m not about to spend $740 or even $179 on a handbag especially being a single mom. I spend prolly $9.99 I can’t afford to spend even $60 dollars on a bag. Maybe other people can and I’m happy they can do that. Love your videos.

I switched to a crossbody when I was potty training my 2 year old and really needed both hands free to lift her on the potty in public without setting my purse down. I got my purse stolen leaving it in a public restroom because of that situation. Even though my kids are teens now, I still feel like I need to keep my purse on me and not set it in a shopping cart where it can be stolen.

Thank you for the video. I have a lot of pain in my back and the best option I’ve found is the backpack handbag. It distributes the weight evenly and keeps your hands free.

I've been a Dooney woman for almost 30 years-showing my age! My current fave is the ZipZip, which you can carry as a satchel or wear shoulder or crossbody. The inside strap to clip your keys with is genius

I really loved all of the bags you featured today. I'm a crossbody purse carrier because I am apt to drop my bag and leave it somewhere. Crossbody keeps it on my body, hands-free, and secure. I also want a bag to have a large opening so I can get my hands in easily. I prefer small bags like the Haifa by Jord that you featured. And I really like the cork! I always figure if I carry a small bag, I can always toss it into a tote if I need to drag a bunch of stuff around. You are looking so smart as a handbag model! Thanks for sharing with us, Jennifer.

Thank you for your bag reviews, they were helpful! I’ve used several different kinds over the years. I’m still searching for that perfect size and shape, very vintage inspired, not too small but not a medium either. I love a simple crossbody and satchel. I’ve gotten away from anything with writing or logos which stands out, especially more than the bag. I love Kate Spade and the one thing that I feel would elevate the bags even more would be to have the branding only seen from the inside. For this reason I’ve often searched H&M for simple and chic looking bags because there is never a logo.

I love crossbody genuine leather bags, perfect for my back!! I grew up oversees and real leather was the only thing we knew! I love leather jackets, shoes and bags, they last forever!! most of my boots, shoes and bags are at least 10 years old and look great!! I really enjoy your channel! Thank you Jennifer.

The Teddy Blake bag is stunning!! Never heard of the brand before

I have become a fan of the brand Baggallini. They are light weight, water resistant, vegan, have RFID blocking technology and some even have other locking security features. I bought my first one for traveling and have since purchased another smaller one for every day. Oh, and did I mention they are affordable. I know I have the right purse when I have no desire to swap it out. I prefer crossbody to keep it from slipping off my shoulder and to remain hands free.

Love it! I love all kinds of handbags, including backpacks. I prefer leather ones not only for the looks but also because they last longer.

I have the aimee tote combo in genuine leather and i love it for the organization. Its so luxurious but with time i find myself using my longchamp neo tote cuz it's much lighter and i could zip it all the way. So glad the brand is being recognized on YT.

Crossbody bags are the best because they leave you hands free and nobody is going to steal them out of your grocery cart or car because you are actually wearing them. Keep them in front of your body and they are even more secure.

I love my fossil crossbody. It is hands-free and practical for traveling, which is what I love to do. And I think it still looks nice, even though the leather is starting to age

I adore Mulberry bags I have 4 one day bag for spring/summer and one for autumn/winter one evening bag and a small crossbody for days out I love them all and have had them serval years I won’t add to my collection now but I will replace as needed 😀❤️

I have the same teddy blake but in nude pink croc embossed leather and it's phenomenal quality.

I own the same Louis Vuitton bag that you do. (The Totally MM which I don't believe is available anymore). I purchased it in 2009 and it is still in perfect condition. Other favorites of mine are Dooney & Bourke and M Z Wallace. My favorite style is a tote but I always use a crossbody when grocery shopping so I am hands free and no one can grab my bag from the cart. I love handbags so thanks for the video!!

I love the Henri Bendel bags. This company recently went out of business. Henri Bendel was founded in 1895 and was based in New York. I’m so sad to see them go but look for them at 2nd hand markets.I especially like their large jet setter bag which converts from a cross body to a back pack and is great for travel!

Loved this video! Yes...please do a review of your LV as I'm looking for some good tips in selecting one. My favorite style will always be a tote (my husband calls it a diaper bag!) but I love a crossbody and backpack especially for shopping or traveling. I am a handbag lover for sure! In fact, when we went to Italy a couple years ago, we specifically went to a certain Tuscan village just to go to this amazing leather shop where I got such a unique bag. I would love to see any other videos you have in mind about bags!😊

Jen, Thank you for this episode. I wear crossovers due to a back injury. But, can you also do a follow up episode on caring for leather and vegan bags. I know that some require special cleaning accessories, but I have never done good on retaining the look.

Style, lightweight and safety, these are what I look for in handbags. For daily use, my favourites are crossbody bags (or with a crossbody option). They can't be lost or snatched away from you, they leave your hands free, don't slip down your shoulder and as you said the weight is more evenly balanced. They also must close completely, not partly, not bags that stay open. And have outside pockets (a zipped one for my keys) and inside pockets. On special occasions I love a clutch and any other beautiful type of handbag. Also I love chic vintage classics! Finally I love good quality but I don't crave designers bags as I find their prices outrageous, I prefer locally-made chic and quality handbags. As for the selection in the video, some are truly beautiful but they are too expensive, even with a discount. My favourite bag was the first one! All time classic, beautifully made, and that gorgeous colour with the great skills are an amazing combination :)

Recently found your channel and binging through videos. I love a crossbody for the hands free aspect. Usually go for a black leather so it will work with most any situation. Usually find something at Kohl's or similar store that is well built but still affordable. Now if I'm taking kid to park or walking, then I've found that a drop leg bag (a similar idea to a fanny pack, but looks better) is great to just hold the essentials, phone, wallet, and keys. Everything else can stay in the car or at home.

I've always thought of the crossbody as more of your petite girly 90's type of bag with a big bow on it or some accent like that. Those were the ones I tended to go for. I like the little cork bag.

Enjoyed this video - actually I enjoy all of your content. I buy Oroton bags, they are an Australian brand but even Megan Markle has one. It was probably an affirmation during her trip to Australia just after they were married but they last the distance I have the pale blue (something old....) one I wore for my wedding back in 1969. I used it for many years - still love it but find a cross body bag most practical for my current life. Final thought I don’t think I have ever owned a vegan bag but am guessing they may weigh less than leather, which is something to consider now that I’m old.🇦🇺

I’ve had a few different brands of handbags, but keep coming back to Dooney & Bourke for their amazing quality. I currently am wearing one of their Florentine Buckley bags which is a satchel that can be used as a crossbody, too. Great video! A recommendation for a deep dive review would be for umbrellas. I live in the Pacific Northwest so mine is used frequently.

I really like the look of the Tocco Toscano handbags and the Jord clutch you showed was lovely. I was thinking I wouldn’t even be able to fit my keys, glasses and purse into it but since it has card slots that’s great. I don’t know if those two are available here in Australia. It’s always better to see them in real life first, rather than online, especially for things like handbags anyway. That might be just me who thinks that. I use a casual crossbody for walking the dog. For most days I use a shoulder bag or a shopping tote and for evening I use either a small shoulder bag or strapless handbag or clutch for going out to dinner.

I love having my hands free for the dog, shopping trolleys etc when I'm out. I'm tall and dont want to knock people in the face with a tote! Love the idea of a cross body tote though. I love all the bags you model, I preferred real leather it last decades and I know that mother earth is going to desintrigade, vegan plastic don't know how many century it is going to take to desintrigade.

I also like a crossbody because it's harder to be swiped. If you're going after my bag... I'm comin' with it. What's weird about me, is I can't stand the small handles on my crossbody bags. Why is it always ONLY the crossbody strap that is removable? I want a large crossbody with no small handles. I feel like they just get in the way and I never use them.

A french brand of bags high quality(except the gold or silver leather)is Paul Marius..very boho.style

I love my Mulberry Annabel (viking/equestrian looking) and Bryn (more mod) crossbody bags and my Isabel Marant Nessah - for life!! I don't think crossbodies look good when they are too large. A lot of the ones you showed look like regular handbags that happen to have a longer cross body strap, and the proportions are all off IMO. They are far too large. I would rather carry a backpack than a crossbody that big. I prefer the size of the cork purse or just slightly larger. I just can't get behind vegan plastic bags - not sustainable at all. I have never been into logos, so LV doesn't do it for me either. I think handbags look ladylike, but they are not practical for me unless I am a lady who lunches. If I had to use one, my choice would be the Hermès Kelly bag. The Mark Cross bags look nice.

Man, now I want a nice designer bag! 😂 as of now I have a nice backpack diaper bag in blush pink that I really like and use all in one.

As much as I love leather, I stopped carrying leather due to the weight. Bags that are light weight with great organization is of top importance. During this past year, I discovered Lug. Lug bags and accessories fits my needs. Great video!

Good Morning Jennifer. You and Myka Meier have introduced me to new companies. She showed a Fairfax and Favor tote, they are in the UK. I loved it. I'm a bag lady, currently with 38 in my collection 🤪🙈 I love totes. I'd also like to recommend Frank Clegg Leather Works. They've been around since 1970, ouf of Massachusetts, my home state. Their bags are pricey but you get what you pay for. They are heirloom pieces, truly beautiful.

I like Longchamp’s nylon totes and small leather backpacks, Roberta Pieri large totes, Dooney & Bourke and Hammitt bags. Also like satchels with an optional crossbody strap.

I’ve really liked a Butler Bag I received as a gift, but it’s not a cross body and not my favorite color...but if you want an organized bag look into Butler Bags. I’ve beaten mine up - I usually it in winter - and it’s lasted 5+ years thus far.

I have a very beautiful leather tote, but it’s heavy. I mostly grab one of my crossbodies. I have a small and a medium one.

For years I tried to use a crossbody bag but they were all too big and pulled on my neck. But during lockdown I have found that I use a small purse crossbody and a leather /vegan back pack which holds an umbrella. sanitisers wipes, gloves, wrap up shopping bag. and mask my money goes in so deep eve I cannot find it and a small change purse.

With a toddler I prefer a backpack over a crossbody so I can bend over and now have the bag swinging around. Mine has a small zip on the side that's on my back so I can reach behind me and easily get my wallet with one hand.

I’d appreciate knowing if “feet” or brads ( don’t know what they’re called) on the bottom of bag are included. I find they’re valuable in preserving bottom of bag from scuffs, tears, scratches, etc. To me, an indication of a quality product.

I don't like handbags with the designers name or initials all over the bag. It is like look at me I can afford an expensive bag even if it's useless or unattractive. I do like Dooney and Burke though because the initials on their bags are mine. Teddy Blake and Patricia Nash are also favorites. They last forever. My only no no is one that doesn't have a zip or closure. I had someone try to pick pocket me once thank goodness they were very bad at it and I'm really short. I saw them lean over into my side vision. It is the only time I ever shoved someone.

I love my handbag but the crime is so high in my town that I cannot show it off in town. So I only wear my bag when I go to work or when I visit my friends at home. The rest of the time I carry a small card wallet.

I made the move to a crossbody bag once I was chasing toddlers around. It allows you to have two arms while you're out and about! 😂
