Ok, so not only are Toto geniuses for how musically skilled they are, but for the fact that they can just throw in new musicians who sound like natural parts of their sound. Hats off.

That will be Jon Gosnell that fixed Luke's rig. He came to the rescue again in Luxembourg a few months ago when Luke's rig failed again but fixed it before his solo on I'll Be Over You.

I was there that night in the front row right in front of Luke, what an awesome concert, even with the technical glitch! Jon fixed things up and the band didn’t skip a beat, true professionals.

Luke is a total professional, but in this moment he probably was lucky, that the piano-solo had to be played. Amazing, how the band as a whole is able to handle the situation.

One time I played a gig using a Mesa Boogie Triaxis, TC Electronic g force processor, stereo 2:90. We went from a large show to a small bar. Settings were set for a large show extremely loud for a small bar... I set the main channels volumes but forgot the lead channel. We were playing some fifties bebop song and it went to solo.... I blew the walls off the place and couldn't hear the band people were plugging their ears but I played it like I meant it. It was like Metallica meets Richie Valens or something 🤣 having a good guitar tech is vital! Along with an amazing SOUND GUY ...
@jonocrawfs13813 жыл бұрын
Wow what a guitar tech...Earnt his dollars in that minute of Lukes isolated guitar....Straight into problem fixing mode and if all else fails bypass the board and straight into the Bogners...!
@crestonburks2141 Жыл бұрын
Yep. But, I think it was Luke's wireless receiver that was mounted on the pedalboard that crapped out. That's why the tech went direct with cable. (note: the second guitar was probably on the same frequency as the first one. That's why it did not work either.)
@crestonburks2141 Жыл бұрын
When I perform with or without wireless, I always have a second guitar cable connected directly to my second input channel of my preamp, bypassing the pedalboard entirely. This way, if a problem occurs, I can be up within seconds.
@TinoSchulz19909 ай бұрын
Luke's wireless is (iirc) a shure rackmounted wireless. The cable that the tech unplugged seems to be the cable coming from the rack-unit. But yeah. I don't think they bypassed the board completely. Listening to the noise coming from luke's amp and sounds like the wireless just cut out.@@crestonburks2141

@tonykennedy84835 жыл бұрын
Looks like it was, when Luke switched to the 2nd guitar he still had no sound, so the tech comes over to the pedalboard and disconnects the wireless from the board and goes to the spare lead. You can see the lead hanging that should be sending the signal to the wireless pack

If I were his tech, after this, I'd have a cable pre-wired and ready to go and hanging from his mic stand, so that I could just toggle that channel on after swapping out on the guitar jack end. Any good tech will tell you this is the last thing they want to have to do, but hey - it's live music and this stuff happens - usually it's Dave's rig though as Toto will tell you ;-)

Perhaps im an old fart. Ive been an IT tech for more the twenty years. When the shi% hit the fan in an officebuilding with 100s of employes, my job is to get it up and running FAST. Nobody is clapping when i correct the bug. Its just a job. This guitastech is doing the same. Thats what we techs are for. Serving, repairing, and get out of sight, until next problem.

@tomulator5 жыл бұрын
Stefan Svensson whoever said I didn’t listen to him? Point is, he’s distracting. See...you’ve got to know your place when playing with a LEGENDARY band like Toto. He needs to just “tone it down” a bit and just play/sing his parts. Notice how Luke barely acknowledges him? There’s a reason for that...🤔
@BonnieHalfElven5 жыл бұрын
Perhaps the reason is because having your rig go out on you is distracting. They featured Shem von Schroeck quite a lot in the show. The spotlight goes to him early on in the concert when he's singing a lead vocal. Since the spotlight was directed at him, I'm thinking the guys in Toto feel he deserves to be featured.
