When you ran your wiring harness for the light bar, did you run it to the battery under the seat or to the auxiliary battery posts under the hood?

Please reply with all the gear you have on this rig. I'd like to have the same done to my TDI. Great work BTW!

Which Touareg do you like better this one or the newer version that you also have a video with? Thanks.
@Dillonk093 жыл бұрын
I like my newer one better for its creature comforts and seems to do as well as I need off road. But I do favor the styling of the T2.

how did you run the wiring for the roof light?
@Dillonk095 жыл бұрын
dadsafrantic , I ran it up the D pillar and out the top of the rear hatch. I then ran it inside the roof rack channel up to the front.

Great video mate Just wondering if this car is still running well? I’m thinking I’m gonna get one(probably 2010-2014model)
@hamyncheese4 жыл бұрын
in the US, the Touareg was redesigned for 2011 model year. Some options were removed and off-road systems are different. you'll probably either want a 2008-2010 model or a 2011-2017 model.
@gryff424 жыл бұрын
@@hamyncheese What's wrong with the newer models?
@hamyncheese4 жыл бұрын
@@gryff42 There is nothing wrong with the newer models, it's just that options and design changes moved away from the more mechanical off-road capabilities. The 2011 redesign removed the transfer case and locking differentials, which provided a mechanical transfer of power to axles and wheels, and is replaced by a software and sensor based power distribution system. These changes make the vehicle lighter (good) but with less overall off-road capability (but still useful). Also, my understanding is that the overall construction is less focused on off-road durability. As a towing vehicle it is my understanding that all model years will perform similarly. I'm in the process of looking for a Touareg also, and this info is some of what I have learned about the Touareg. So, I've focused on 2009-2010 V6 TDI with air suspension as my default interest, but they are very difficult to find. There is also a rear locking differential option that was available prior to the redesign, but so far I have only see it IRL once on a beat to hell mess of a 2004 Touareg. Honestly, I'm trying to decide if I need the air suspension. It is great for leveling the vehicle while towing or for lifting the vehicle to increase ground clearance while off-road. It supposedly offers a smooth ride as well, but I'd need more drive time to compare the 2010 and the 2012 I've test driven.

@@hamyncheese Thanks for the long answer, helped me quite a bit! I'm currently thinking about getting a 2019 Tiguan Offroad and maybe raise it a bit afterwards. I never drove serious offroad and I will probably not drive too serious tracks with it, but I want a little bit more freedom to reach places where I wouldn't go with a "normal" street vehicle. In my understanding the Tiguan Offroad will offer me that freedom. I'm also thinking about a Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk which is probably the more capable offroader but also pricier than I'd like. Good luck with finding your desired vehicle!
@hamyncheese4 жыл бұрын
@@gryff42 Best of Luck to you as well! If I don't forget then I will try to update this comment thread when I make a final decision this week and see how you are doing with your search! Edit to add: I was also considering a Jeep Grand Cherokee - offorad, towing (only 7200 vs 7700lbs touareg), comfort, pricey!

Where did you get your tow hooks

They are the factory tow hooks with a d-ring shackle stuck in them.

@@hamyncheese a bit of a money pit no doubt. Theyre fun to drive but horrible to take care of, vw canada bought it back bc of emissions. Id stay clear
