Thanks very much Jason. I now know how to make much nicer buttons and your audio, pace, visuals and instructions were very clear. Nice work!

Thank you for the tutorial I learnt a lot! For the python ref. I liked to use op('parameter1')['Label','value'] to avoid to count the rows. I also tried not to use any parameter DAT and directly copy / past bend from the custom componant parameters to have a two way connection and found it conveniant

Welll, checking in with some comments: I do not understand whats the point with the Null -> ChopExecute. You can easily use a simple panelExecute. I see this all the time and have to wonder. The second thing is that you can simply set your background rectangle TOP-resolution to "parent panel size". Refferencing the parameter will does of course work, but only if your are not using the fillWidth and fillHeight-parameter. (which is the third thing I wonder about.) Last but not least, check out the radio-button feature. This does exactly what you are after with your active-parameter.

All good points. I was just showing how to roll your own buttons. I could have planned it out a bit better but I just want to get some of the basics out there real quick to build on and refer to when I get more in-depth. I am just used to doing things more programmatically with code. I am not claiming to be an expert, this is just the method that has worked well for me. I come at TD with a long history of Flash development and try to apply that experience to touch. Also the Null to ChopExecute is just out of laziness because by default you can't drag the button or container onto the chopexec directly. I guess you can right click from the output and choose chopExecute. Also it helps to visually show what is happening for the purpose of the demo. But yeah that could be optimized for sure.

Ok, let's make a deal, I follow your tutorials and if I do something decent with TD you give me a winter hat like yours. Deal? (Keep going, already applying what you've shared, thanks!)

You are likely using the latest version of TD Build 2022 which uses a new Button Comp. I built this with the 2021 build.

Just come across this video so idk what the purpose for using touchdesigner instead of figma or adobeXD? People usually use touchdesigner in music industry. I never heard that it can be use as UI design too. Pls enlight me XD

I primarily build permanent installations for museums. TouchDesign is a great platform to build touch screen interfaces, multi-video outputs, and glue together more complex setups with screens, lights, cameras, and sensors. I don't really "design" in it, I execute a client's design in it. They build the graphics/layouts in figma / adobe products.

@@JasonLatta Do you need someone to write a code after that to make it works? I'm studying computer engineer and producing music as hobby, so I kinda try to find a way to combine all the skills I have. Thank you for ur input!
