This was January 2017 when they were 16, 14, and 12. This is the performance that made me a fan. I couldn't believe three little girls from Mexico were bringing back the classic hard rock sound. Flashed back to my teenage years in the 1970s. And then to find out they were an independent band trying to make it on their own and rejecting the music industry until they could do what they loved on their own terms. Happy to say they are today very happy, very successful, and very appreciative of their fans and supporters.

Dany was asked why not more guitar and drum solos and her reply was “it’s about The Warning as a group, not individuals”. Check out Alé playing Hysteria at 9 years old if you’re willing to be schooled on the bass.

What's strange is that she become more quiet and reserved in her teenage years compared to her more outgoing and assertive personality as a child. She never lost her self-confident personality traits, but she is now more quiet and happier to be in the background compared to her sisters while in this TED presetnation she is every bit as equal and elequent as them, if not even more.

It seems like you expect The Warning to perform like other bands, having guitar solos and stuff. If you were listening to their speech, they talked about how people were trying to change them into something they are not. You can't expect every band to be the same.

They lean more toward rock and hard rock rather than metal, but they have done some covers of metal songs in the past. The one original song of theirs that I'd say is the closest thing to metal would be the title track to "Queen of the Murder Scene".

Thanks for the reaction, and wait until you see them now! That was over five years ago, and they've grown in musicianship and released another independent album and now an EP under Lava records. Dany's (the guitarist) best guitar solos are Z off of Mayday, and The End from Queen of the Murder Scene. You won't find the kind of breakout solos you mentioned in their songs, however. All of their instrumentals and vocals are meant to enhance the song. A good song is typically put on hold during a solo, so it rarely does anything for the mood.

Dani is sponsored by PRS and Manson guitars. And Ale is the youngest Spector featured artist at the age of 13 and has her own custom made Spector 5 string bass model called Ale's Inferno, she is the one that came up with the design. I think if you get into their newer stuff, you'll be pleasantly surprised how far they HAVE come. With 2 full albums, and 2 EPs under their belts, and another on the way, they will be a force to be reckoned with in the rock world. Little Ale the bass player ain't so little anymore and at 17 she is now head and shoulders above her sisters, and her bass work rivals some of the best. Dany's vocals and guitar work have both gotten exponentially better, and Pau is coming up with drum riffs that will knock your socks off. Her style has gotten a lot more efficient, so it doesn't seem she's working her ass off to get through a song now. The list of songs that were provided in the other comments are great choices, and I'll take a chance and put some emphasis on their recent re-imagination of Enter Sandman featured on the new Metallica Blacklist album. Featuring Canadian pop artist Alessia Cara, they completely turned the song on it's ear (which is kind of what Metallica was after when they first posed this challenge). At any rate, it's one of the best cover versions I've ever heard, and I've been around a lot longer than Metallica has.🤣 Great first reaction man.. looking forward to more. These young ladies are pretty special! 🤘😎🤘

I love it when reactors play the whole TEDx Talk. These ladies ROCK! All of them have raised their games since this performance. Dany's vocals (the oldest on guitar) are on another galaxy skill-wise as are her chops on the axe. Ale (the youngest on bass and also the tallest now) is a contract Spector Bass musician with her own signature model. Her bass lines are pure poetry. Pau (POW!), well I don't have to sell you on her. As much as I try to be impartial and spread the love I always seem to have a little extra for her. Their music has gotten progressively harder-edged, as you'll see when you do 'Evolve' and the other songs you mentioned. Spector is producing a Signature Series bass in the name of that young bassist and has a color called "Ale's Inferno" after her (her name is Alejandra, 'Ale' for short) that you can select when you have them build a custom bass.

@redfielduniverse
@redfielduniverse 2 жыл бұрын
I think that because most people see Pau bashing the drums like an absolute beast while singing they automatically think shes the best musician out of them. But usually they don't see Ale doing technical bass work and Dany doing technical solos or warm ups. I think they are all very talented and shouldn't be compared on best musician or better singer. They have fun, that's what everyone should be doing.

@redfielduniverse
@redfielduniverse 2 жыл бұрын
@@ultimatelovejunkie4122 But we have to take into account that they all miss notes. Dany and e have said that they've realized when Pau has switched rhythms and paced. They all miss notes and beats, that's what makes them special. Even the best guitarists, bassists, drummers, and singers mess up. Dany and Ale messing up doesn't put Pau above them in the musician department. And ultimately we shouldn't compare, I know its human nature to but we shouldn't. They are all talented sisters playing incredible music. We shouldn't pick a favorite and best musician over the other especially since they all play different instruments. If we were to pick a best musician though, it wouldn't be Pau because she plays the least amount of instruments as well. All the sings already confirmed that Ale is the best pianist out of them. I think also that Ale has perfect pitch but is an introvert. But we shouldn't compare. Let's just enjoy the music these sisters put out and enjoy making.

@@ultimatelovejunkie4122 No no, I think there was miscommunication. My message was addressing the video say Pau was the best musician. If you look back, I completely directed it all at Pau because shes usually the one people say is the most talented. No hate of course to Pau cause shes a beast, but I was saying that we shouldn't compare and if we were to compare it wouldn't be Pau. There was some miscommunication but I hope that fixes it. I wasn't disagreeing with you but stating the point that I dont see how people overlook Ale and Dany.

What shocked me about The Warning the first time I heard them was not their musicianship, which was good, but their lyrical sensibilities. They write deeply layered, sensitive songs. Some of them are tear-jerkers. Some of them will make you think, "How the hell did a 13-year-old Pau write that?" All three of their albums contain really well-put-together songs. They're not always musically complex, but they succeed as messages. Their body of work is quite a rabbit hole. I see that phrase a lot among the Warning Army's comments. It's great to see kids grow up living their dreams, and I think this video illustrates that nicely. They show amazing poise and courage playing in front of audience after audience very consistently. Their behind the scenes videos are worth watching for insights on their creative process and work environment. They have MASTERED the use of social media to addict their fans to their brand. I loved the MTV guy who sees them in the hall after their VMA appearance and says, "Holy Shit! I'm a fan! Fantastic!"

Great 1st time reaction to The Warning Touchy! If my memory serves me correctly, they were 17, 15, and 12 years old here. They have continued to progress a long way since then. You will be surprised how good the bass player Ale` is now. The Villarreal sisters are amazing songwriters and performers. Each one of their original songs is great. Their second album, "Queen of the Murder Scene", is a concept album. It follows a girl's journey into unrequited love; from infatuation and obsession on into stalking and murder, then madness and... It is a masterpiece. It was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2019 Independent Music Awards. Their 1st full-length LP, "XXI Century Blood", is also very good and is packed with many great songs. The video for the title track, "XXI Century Blood", was nominated for and won many awards. Their very 1st released recordings are from their 6 song EP, "Escape the Mind"; and it is amazing. Despite being courted by numerous offers from many major record labels, The Warning have stayed independent through the years; relying on crowd funding to finance their projects. They refused to give up creative control over their material ... down to even the clothes they wear on stage. After 7 months of negotiations, The Warning signed a 5 album recording contract with Lava/Republic Records/Universal Music Group last fall. They recently decided to release 1/2 (6 songs) of their completed 3rd full-length album in an EP called Mayday. "Disciple" is my favorite track! The Warning do not come from a family of musicians, however, their parents are huge fans of classic rock. Both parents are professionals (civil engineer and dentist) and they enrolled their daughters into a private Catholic English speaking school Liceo de Monterrey, Mexico. They also started the girls with classical piano lessons at ages 6, 4 and 5 years old. Regular family functions included gathering around the TV with popcorn and watching LIVE concert dvds of legendary bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen and AC/DC. When their parents got them the video game Rock Band at ages 8, 6 and 3, they went nuts playing it obsessively. A year or so later, they got "real" instruments with lessons from professional teachers: and the rest is history. Amazing they are 21, 19 and 17 years old and have already written and arranged #44 original songs all by themselves! The oldest, Dany (Daniela) plays guitar, keyboards, lead vocals on 75% of their songs, backing harmonies. Pau (Paulina) plays drums, keyboards, lead vocals on 25% of their songs, backing harmonies. Ale` (Alejandra) plays bass, keyboards, backing harmonies. The drummer Pau begins writing around 75% of their songs. In her songs, she starts with a concept, then works on chord progressions and basic song structure on piano while adding lyrics. She then brings it before her sisters and together they transpose each individual instrument's part; making changes along the way. They also complete the lyrics together; since Pau may only bring one verse and a chorus. All 3 must unanimously approve of each instrument's part and each vocal harmony before it becomes a completed song. Nothing is set in stone until it makes it through the gauntlet. Pau has said if not for her sisters, her songs would be different. Both Dany and Ale` write equally great songs; just not as many. I was fortunate enough to get to meet them after their show January 16th, 2020 at The Whisky a Go-Go in Hollywood, California. Aside from their music, they are just normal, sweet, intelligent, and fun-loving young ladies who are truely grateful and endearing to their fans. Thank you for your feedback. I am looking forward to watching you discover this great band. 🤘🤓💯

Cool Reaction! This was 5 years ago and you have no idea how amazing they are now. You are right that you won't get a lot of "shreddy" guitar solos, but don't under estimate Daniela (guitar) or Alejandra (bass). Since this video Daniela (here 17, now 21yo, 22 later this month) has sponsorships from Rick Toone Guitars (he is a custom luthier), Manson Guitars and PRS guitars, and her voice is incredible! Alejandra (Here 12, now 17yo) is the youngest ever Spector Bass Artist and now plays a USA Custom 5-string Spector and has her own signature line of Spector basses coming out soon. All three are classically trained on piano (basically since kindergarten) and all three sing. And since this performance they have released a second album independently. It is a concept album called Queen of the Murder Scene, and it is a Masterpiece! In July 2020 after being pursued by many major labels, finally signed with Lava/Republic Records to a 5 record deal. They recorded a new album and have released the first 6 tracks as an EP called Mayday. Every track is a KILLER! Their incredible songwriting sets them head and shoulders above any new band I have heard in decades! They are also one of the few bands that is even better live! Check out their newer work and you will be impressed for sure! You've been Warned! Excellent first time reaction and review of The Warning. I do remember recommending The Warning to you and why you should start with this TedX performance. It gives you an important baseline on which to form your next reactions to them because of their young ages here. This TedX was several years ago and they are literally exploding now on the music scene with music videos, albums, and live performances. They have really grown, musically and physically, and polished their act and recently signed with Lava Records. Ale (Alexandra) has really come into her own as a powerful bassist. And they also speak excellent English (wink, wink). Sadly, their recently scheduled North American concert tour has had to be postponed. In the meantime, there are notable videos titled Sandman, Evolve, Choke, and Disciple. Some of their shows at the Whisky-a-Go-Go are also worth taking in. You have been Warned. And thanks for the shout out!

You have been warned! Now go and look at what they're doing now with their new "Mayday" EP, especially the live versions of the songs. I'm a not-so-young-anymore big fan of this band and their rock sound, and you will be surprised. After this album, they came out with an amazing concept album called "Queen of the Murder Scene", with superb songwriting and a professional attitude enormously beyond the prejudice their ages might stir in us. Then they signed with Lava for the latest EP. Daniela (Dany) on guitar, Alejandra (Ale) on bass and Paulina (Pau) on drums might just seem like the future of rock, but they're not. They're the present of our music.

Well Metallica, Muse, The Killers, The Foo Fighters, Def Leppard, and Disturbed have all recognized their talents. They are on Metallica’s Blacklist album, they’ve opened for Def Leppard and The Killers and are scheduled to open for the Foo Fighters soon. I could go on and on, from Spector bass officially sponsoring Ale, to them being the first Mexican band being signed by a major US label. The one critique I’d have and thing I’d reject is the idea that you need to have guitar solos all the time, that nonsense, there are so called good guitar players that are just showing off. I’d rather have a guitarist that does what’s needed for the song, a solo for the sake of a solo is of no interest to me.
@thesaturdaymorningcowboy4198
@thesaturdaymorningcowboy4198 2 жыл бұрын
You hit on an important point. Lead singers who also play guitar basically have a triple role to play. They have to sing the lyrics while playing guitar at the same time and if it's a lyrically intensive song then they essentially become a rhythm guitarist.

Hello my Cowboy friend! What’s wrong with Rythm guitar? And rather ask what’s wrong with a solo guitarist who can play both? All the Rythm guitarists are very underrated. Just one example for that! AC/DC, Malcolm Young, but without his riffs their whole music would suck. And I’m not saying that she is an exellent solo guitarist, but she never late or miss a note. Three exeptional girl musicians, and just forget where they are coming from.one advise for you my friend, watch them when they were really young and little, playing piano in the age of 5, 7, and 10!!!!

I’m with you on solos. I like hard and soft rock, metal and prog. What ultimately matters is whether a song is good or not, irrespective of whether it is lead guitar heavy or not. But I’m sure the girls will find the right balance as they progress.

Well lets be real here. :D Even IF you say a Guitar Solo is not massively important for you. The first albums clearly lacked a bit of finesse, ya know the points where you sit there and think... boah. I dont know how to say it different. My english isnt good enough :D. I dont wanna sound like an Ass.. expecially not cause i have every LP they Broad out until today *g*. But its clear they played it the right way. meening, they played what they where capable to do. And not fiddeling around like crazy, put in solo stuff in the studio versions they never could deliver live ( something a lot of Bands did. Fmous... Nrvana lol ) Thats a reason i love this Band much more... cause it never seemed like they wanna stage something. Everything they play, sounds legit. And im curious where this gets us. Cause one thing is clear. Theire instrumental knowledge and profession is until today... realy good but far from the end. :D the Girls are absolute great. The only thing i hope is, that they stay like they allways where. Curious for new stuff. AND.... i want a second concept album :DDD

Dany does a solo in the song 'Z' from their latest EP, MayDay. It's not that she doesn't do solos, just they aren't the focus of most of their songs. It seems that each of their songs showcases a different aspect of their individual skills. For example, 'Evolve' seems to feature Pau on the drums. 'Animosity' and 'Martirio' have great bass lines. Ale has developed a lot over the past couple of years.

Nice honest reaction. You will continue to be impressed and even more impressed as you see their origin (Enter Sandman 2014) through their current Mayday EP. Here is another young female trio (two sisters and their best friend) from Northern Ireland called Dea Matrona. They opened for Van Morrison last November and are opening for Status Quo in February. As you may have guessed they are Classic Rock (not Metal) and here are three links of short songs showing their range and skills. The drummer is no where near the skill level of Pau from The Warning as she just took up drums to fill out her sisters band not too long ago. The two older girls are super talented musicians and singers. I will start with some of their best covers before recommending their originals if you care to hear more. First, Simon and Garfunkel's "Homeward Bound" acoustic kzfaq.info/get/bejne/msWmhcp-q6-3Yo0.html. Second, here is Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac "Oh Well" with Orlaith on guitar and vocals kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aNKEfqp5ldO-nac.html and finally, here's Rory Gallagher's "Cradle Rock" with Mollie on guitar and vocals kzfaq.info/get/bejne/arBmrZSprL_IZJc.html. Note: If you react to these three, do the acoustic last so as not to lose audience before the rockers, just my thought.
