Superb presentation tempo, and superb Southern Living plants! It never occurred to me to use containers in a too-wet area I have, where I want some greenery that doesn't die from root rot. You give us so many ideas. Thanks!

I really love your videos...you've introduced me to plants I didnt know exist for Zone 8a. We do have lots of plants to choose from in North Central Texas but I dont want what everybody else has in their yard. I stear clear of linear designs, prefering curvy, loose un tamed cottage style landscapes with manners, if that makes sense! I've saved all your videos and appreciate each one. Thank you

Great video! Very helpful. I appreciate the hardiness zone information for planting in pots and knowing what will do well yr round in my area. I also appreciate the suggestions on what to plant in pots for year round interest. 😀

I have never had any luck with rosemary in a container. They really don’t thrive in a pot.

I have a large container that I want to put in the corner of my fence. I can’t plant because of the maple tree roots on the other side of it are on surface. What can tolerate mostly shade but still give me a bit of height? It will need to stay put during the winter in 7b because of the size.

I grew up with a couple of yucca plants in the backyard and they were great. They've naturalized now and need to be thinned out, but it would be like trying to prune a hedge of barbed wire. The are lethal. Any tips for working on them?

Jim, my orange rocket barberry is mostly green. Planted about a month ago. Does that mean it's not getting enough sun? Or like Japanese maples, they green out in the heat of the summer?

I have 3 azaleas in a container and they are not doing well. The leaves all turned brown and crispy and and struggling to survive. The branches are dark brown. What happened?

Do you ever schedule presentations or symposiums with your viewers? I actually live in Fairhope where you did a walk through on a garden I believe in the Fruit and Nut area, so am not far from Flowerwood in Loxley. Always enjoy your informative videos!

Keep it kinda dry. Don't use potting soil. Use a pine bark mix and they aren't bad. I have them in the ground and containers. Drainage is the key

HortTube with Jim Putnam I have a Rosemary plant in a container on the ledge in my screened-in porch. It’s been sitting there for at least 3 years even through the winter. I’m in 7a. I don’t know what my secret is to keeping it. 😂👍

HortTube with Jim Putnam I have one growing in dense wet clay. I was planted above grade. Somehow it adapted its roots to the wet low oxygen environment.
