Meet the Jeepsie family who travels full-time in their Jeep Wrangler overlander. I did a tour of their Jeep Wrangler overland build and got to see how they tackle the challenge of minimalist living with the overland Jeep setup. Eric and Brittany explain why the use the specific Jeep gear and camping gear for their full-time set-up and give advice on this Jeep tour of how you can outfit your Jeep mods for 4x4 travel and living in the Jeep.

★ How I Got Started
Hi, I'm Amber and in May 2017 I started this nomadic journey after selling my house and all my belongings to pursue this crazy dream of living out of my RV full-time and traveling all around North America.
After 1 year of traveling, I sold my 26 foot Winnebago Class C RV for a more nimble Class B Hymer Aktiv van. I couldn't have been more excited to continue my second year in a van that allows me to travel to more places and experience more in life.

I’ve been Van living since 2017. I’ve converted jeeps, small vans, back of trucks, and even a big van. I’ve gone from coolers to alpine fridges, large battery I plug into libraries to charge to solar panels, and laying on a rug to full bed frame. Every build for a purpose and reason in learning deeper about appreciation of what we often own and what works for me. I have learned a lot of lessons over the years and goodness - listen to these wonderful people! Their advice is excellent! Use backpacking gear, carry safety communication devices, minimalism is key… yes. Wonderful. We need far less than we believe we do. Thank you for much for the content and happy roads ahead! ❤

This "revelation" which was honestly something I'm sure many people before me had already thought of, came to me when we were parked in a remote wilderness spot and some thru hikers came by our campsite. I looked at them in awe. They were hiking for miles with everything they needed on their backs! It hit me like a ton of bricks. I was like, how can I even say that we have an issue for cargo space when I have the entire Jeep to store things in. If they can survive and enjoy the outdoors with what they have on their backs, surely we can do it in our Jeep. Also there equipment was smaller in footprint, lighter in weight, and arguably more durable than the camping gear we'd been carrying. It revolutionized our loadout and our travels. ~ E

How do I love a comment on KZfaq? Thank you Mrsjennyk for the kind comment and even more so for the recognition of how we all get attached to "stuff." At one point I had a large house with 8 couches in it. Can you believe that? 8 couches? I only used 3 of them regularly and at some point it just hit me. What am I doing? Is this what I really want with this one wild and precious life I've been given? Something had to change. And on February 21st, 2014 I locked the door to my place for the last time and headed off on this adventure. I don't regret it for a moment. ~ E

I just love looking at tiny backpacking things. They're cute AND practical! :) That Dyson vacuum looks awesome. I'm wondering how well it would do with cat hair... I'd never heard of a Thunder Box, before. Interesting. What a sweet family. I hope they can achieve all their goals!!

Hi all! This is Eric, Brittany, and Caspian (Formerly Jeepsies) Now Hourless Life as we're preparing to drive around the world. First I want to say thank you to Amber from Story Chasing for featuring us in this video. Believe it or not this is the very first comment we've ever made on KZfaq. I (Eric,) actually created our new channel just to respond to the comments here left by those who have watched the video of us that Amber posted. I figured if y'all were kind enough to comment, that I should at least make an attempt to respond. So I'll try and get to as many of the comments as I can. Thanks again for your patience. This whole KZfaq thing is brand new for us and I literally created this account moments ago. ~ Eric

Hi Amber . . . great story and talk about the "high life" living. I think I told you I lived out of my Jeep Cherokee the past 8 years but not even to the nth degree like these guys. Heck, me and Baby, my tiny chihuahua, would pull over somewhere, I'd push all my stuff to the side and lay in between the stuff. lol Wow and really inspiring me to push further into the minimalist life just more comfortable like them. I decided to refurbish my schoolie but now I see this!! Like the Godfather said, Just when I though I was out, they (you) pull me back in! LOL Oh you . . . haha Anyway, great info, guys.

@HourlessLife
@HourlessLife 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ragdoll, so let's see if I can tackle all your questions. We do have quite a few gadgets, but again we live this life fulltime, so we're very careful in our selection process. We don't ever buy things willy nilly. Every purchase is intentional and to serve a specific purpose. We are limited by payload capacity in the vehicle as well as cargo space. As far as food. We can typically carry about a week's worth of food without needing to find a source for replenishment, but the reality is that we move so frequently that we usually only carry about 3 days worth of meals. Part of experiencing each local culture we encounter is visiting local restaurants and eateries. So we try and mix that up with cooking out of our rig. As far as bathing, we sometimes "sponge bathe" with Venture Wipes, but typically we'll just shower like most folks, the only difference is that we need to be creative depending on what part of the world we are in. Gyms are a good resource as well as truck stops, and we also have a lot of friends all over our travels that invite us to come see them. Usually they invite us to take a shower. I hope that isn't a hint. We are really looking forward to South America! ~ E

Hi Cindy! Great question. As others mentioned, I am retired US Military so I have a small pension. We also receive contributions through our website from folks who just want to help fill our fuel tank that have gotten to know us and appreciate the content we put on there. We did have several online companies as well but we've sold most of that as we are getting ready to start our drive around the world. So now we only receive funds through our writing and via my pension. We aren't wealthy by any first world standards, but we definitely have enough to keep the wheels turning and fuel in the tank. Keep in mind we don't have a mortgage or property taxes, HOA, landscaping etc etc. ~ E
