Follow me around my dormitory for this video!
I live in Orion International House in Osaka, and before coming to Japan I've searched the internet frantically for a video about this dormitory, with no luck.
So, if you're looking for a tour of this dormitory in particular, if you want to get an impression of dormitory life for international students in Japan in general, or if you're only here to see how I'm doing in my new environment, I hope you enjoy this video.
Like & subscribe if you do!

I'm glad the video could help you, Josie. I would say the study really depends on what your home university requires from you in terms of credit points. I don't have that many classes and even have Wednesdays off. Generally, there are a lot of assignments, but it's not difficult to pass. ;)

How good is Osaka University in terms of education and after graduation getting the job in your field of study?
@Hannami0
@Hannami0 4 жыл бұрын
I didn't study at Osaka University (大阪大学), but at Osaka City University (大阪市立大学), which sounds similar, but is a completely different University. But regarding your question I'd say that Osaka University is a good choice. It's eight in the ranking of the best universities in the country in 2020 and Japanese Companies are big on employing students from top ranking universities.

That's exciting, good luck with your plans! I didn't go through MEXT, but through an internal exchange program of my home university with a scholarship of my home university.

@Hannami0
@Hannami0 5 жыл бұрын
I'm glad it helped you! Unfortunately, there's a strict no-staying over policy. So your friends can't stay over. I also wouldn't try it, because you could be expelled from the dorm in the worst case scenario. There is a little guest room however, but only family members can stay there over night.

just bought Minna no Nihongo. It is a great textbook and I like it more than Genki. Any studytips for this textbook and do you known a good kanji book? Thanks..
@Hannami0
@Hannami0 3 жыл бұрын
I also preferred Minna no Nihongo to Genki. There is a Kaji Book that goes with Minna no Nihongo as well. I've not tried it out personally but I'd imagine it's convenient as it goes alongside Minna no Nihongo (the textbook). I also used the Kanji book for Tobira (上級へのとびら漢字力), which has 800 Kanji in it and comes with some exercises after each section which I found helpful. It doesn't start from the basics though, so it might be a good follow up book for when you already know some basic Kanji. Hope this helps.

Hey, Lisa! I think Germany has a really high quality of life and has some beautiful places, but if you really want to experience a completely different culture, I'd choose Japan for sure. It was one of the most memorable years of my life when I went in High School as an exchange student. Best of luck, wherever you choose to go!

Hey, girl! I received a scholarship from my home University, which didn't cover all costs though. The accommodation isn't free, although I'd say it's very reasonably priced for living in Osaka.

Good evening! I am wondering if you are an exchange student and what are you studying in this college? How is your overall experience in Osaka?
@Hannami0
@Hannami0 5 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Yes, I'm an exchange student, studying Japanese Studies at my home university. Here in Osaka at University I mainly study Japanese, but can also choose whichever lectures I'm interested in taking (together with Japanese students in Japanese). I'm going home very soon, but it was a really enriching experience and Osaka is great. Better than Tokyo, but then that's just my biased opinion. ;)

@@Hannami0 Thank you so much! In what ways are Osaka better than Tokyo? I also have a biased that Tokyo people tend to be more cold because it's a really fast pace city(it's like an Asian type of NY?). @Hannami0

This dormitory was indeed recommended by my university, but I have to point out again that my university is "Osaka City University" (OCU) and not "Osaka University" (OU). There are no students from OU living in my dormitory right now. I'm sure there is a really good one for the international students from OU, though. ;)
