I'm a carer so can't live my dream atm. But I'm downsizing possessions slowly and buying camping gear. Physical health permitting I will one day go off grid and live outdoors. Dislike city life so much, it's damaging my mental health. Great vid, very inspiring ❤️

Great video Becky. I have been lucky enough to spend a great deal of time in a tent identical to the one you’re using. Many (many many, lol) years ago I served in the US Army’s 6th Infantry Division. At that time we were stationed at Fort Richardson, Alaska. Each squad was issued a 10 man, two layer, round, canvas tent. Our stove burned white gas which we fed with 5 gallon cans positioned on a tripod outside the tent. On the coldest of nights (-40°F and colder) we would lower the center pole so as to conserve heat. We also started off with a thick layer of pine brow as a floor. So glad you were able to enjoy such a beautiful snowy day!

i have been doing bushcraft ( or as we call it woodscraft) for 40+ yrs..and i have yet to camp in a snow like you did in this video..it is a dream of mine ..i love the sight of the snow the feeling of quiet the woods take on..sadly my home gets very rare snow fall once every 5 or 6 yrs and then its but a tiny amount..but watching this brought back that feeling of wonder i had as a small boy.. watching the flakes fall... safe journeys to you may you have many wonderful adventures in the yrs to come

BUSTER stood out on this one: he looked so comfortable in his dog bed by the fire...and THEN he looked just as comfortable lying on the snow in the sun. What a dog!

That is a nice setup you have and you must love it and being outside during many parts of the year. I have a backpack which have almost everything I would need for camping out, but don't have a tent as I would only be out in good weather and remain home when the weather is terrible. The snow you are talking about sounds more like sleet and we just received some of that last night and I awoke to slippery steps and had to be careful walking around outside.

Hi Becky,I’ve got two artic tents with liners . One has been up for a year now, ( in all types of weather)and i stay in it most weekends. I bought the tents back in 1998, i got them from Anker supplies in Derby. I pulled the bottom flaps inside and put a ground sheet down first and covered it with artificial grass, to stop the damp. Ive also hung candles inside small drink cans ( i cut the cans and bent the sides out to reflect the light).This helps to keep the tent warm and again prevent damp. Best wishes Dave Chubb

Observation, before you open the door to the wood burner, open the flew damper, you will have less smoke come into the tent. With the fresh snow it looked to be so peaceful, I envy you and Bush Whackerman. great work ! i watch your dads channel as well and love it, the only thing i would do different is bagging up mud weight in bags to hold the tent flaps down, that just makes it easier to move things around and prevents direct effect on the canvas from whatever rotting effect the mud has. keep up the good work.

Use the same tent in Canada. Its awesome -30c with a good stove and it is a good time. Love the video makes me wish I could still do that but your video give me the same feeling.

Thank you for the quote from the American philosopher and poet Henry Thoreau, who I did know about but have never read, and it is about time I did so. I haven't bought any new books since the lockdown and although there are hundreds of books in my house I am running out of new stuff to read. I don't know when you filmed this but everywhere in the UK seems to have had a lot of snow in the last few days except the West Country. Last night it was a quite temperate -3 deg C outside my home. A large dog has just appeared in one of my drawings!

As for your floor try putting cardboard boxes opened up then you can put down your rugs the cardboard will make a great sealer from the cold and if they get to wet you can always replace them. In Joy

I was going to take off to my dads for a week or so however -38c was a little cold to be driving a day to get out their so I postponed the trip. I live in the south BC snow is rare out my way as well coldest it got all Winter was -6c Oh wet snow that’s cold and heavy. Check your trees buddy. Yay, snow here too in Lincolnshire. -10c tonight, so definitely a great night for getting out in the hot tent to test everything. Those Army arctic tents are great, heavy but very long lasting and safe. We've got the Army 4 man tunnel tent and it stays up even in the harshest gales. Have you got a stove top fan? They work a treat, definitely recommend one.

Looking at this video, no doubt you will fit well into our Canadian winter.

Love watching all your vids I want to one day get a bit of land and build a cabin. Just got a log burner for Christmas so looking for what tent to buy to go with it as my current one is definitely not. Keep up the great vids your doing awesome.

Pine limbs may have resin still in them. The liner will definitely extend the life of the tent. If you have went biking in the snow I suggest a fat tire bike they are awesome
