They are forced to act. The homes probably went to senior military officials. Also, weren't those buildings recently condemned or something due to being unsafe... It's not normal for a person to hold up a sign that says long live anybody.. have you not seen hostage videos? Notice how skinny... a little too skinny they all are.. Open your eyes.

Unfortunately, this isn't for the average NKorean. People in this district, and people you see living executive lifestyles are on the higher end of the social economic ladder due to their loyalty to the regime. Most are still starving. They will. Question is, will Americans have enough power to power their homes and businesses with this "green energy" nonsense shutting down our energy production facilities. See, China and North Korea are not beholden to the globalist green energy agenda, they rely on oil and nuke power and traditional forms of energy to power their countries, America and Europe are regressing back to 1000 b.c technology like wind and solar. I don't hear of black outs in the Peoples Republic of Korea like I do in the Peoples Republic of California.

Make no mistake. Pyongyang has been going through a long series of such shiny, show-off residential blocks. They all ended up losing their paint and tiles in less than a year and becoming almost uninhabitable not much later, with people installing their own coal stoves with handmade chimneys so they don't freeze in winter and car batteries on the balcony to help them over the city's regular blockouts. Apartments in the lower floors are highly desired because elevator service is completely unreliable. Unless, of course, you live in the very center of the town, in the area reserved for the country's nobility from the Worker's party.

Would like to know more about North korean societal structure. I mean as far as I know about NK these residence are not given to poor people. I want to know what divides their economic classes. Who are the privileged people of the country? Can poor people work their way up to 1st class citizenship? And are the 1st class citizens allowed to leave the country for business purposes or just for travelling?
@floraflowers
@floraflowers Жыл бұрын
Privileged people in NK are the ones who are loyal to the party, who are somehow involved or tied to it, and who have not had anyone in their family who has ever done anything to offend the regime in some way or another. NK society is very much based on a caste system and from what I've read, it's very uncommon to get married into a family that is considered to be above yours. From what I could gather, it is indeed possible for someone to climb the social ladder, but it's also very difficult because the gap between the rich and the poor is also unimaginably high. The rich live relatively comfortable lives akin to the middle class in other countries mostly, and the poor barely have what to eat and rely on government rations that are not nearly enough. If you've seen any photos of abundant supermarkets in NK, those are actually just in Pyongyang and are reserved for people who can be trused *and* for foreigners (usually diplomats and embassy employees). It could also be that they were stocked simply for propaganda purposes so as to showcase that life in NK is good and they're thriving. Status is very much something you're born into, so if your family has been living in Pyongyang all their lives and they've followed all the rules, you'll probably have a comfortably life yourself as well. But that can also change. If you or even someone in your family broke rules, it's also very possible to fall out of the regime's grace and be forced to leave everything behind, if not worse. NK also works on the concept of generational punishment, which means that if *you* have done something wrong, one or even several generations of your family will be punished. That means your parents, grandparents and cousins could be thrown into a labor camp for something they had nothing to do with. From what I've read, yes, higher-ups can indeed leave the country for business purposes and I believe even personal purposes. Athletes are also obviously allowed to leave the country. There has to be a certain level of trust established between the individual and the regime to be allowed to leave but even so there have been instances of North Koreans defecting and asking for shelter in the country they went to. I believe high-ranking party members in Pyongyang are also the only people in the whole country who are allowed internet access. Some defectors have said that at least some North Koreans are not as oblivious to the outside world as one might think, but most are probably either too afraid to flee or they don't have the means. There's actually a girl who defected from NK who is the daughter of a high-ranking official, so it's not just the people who are poor who would want to leave.

As far as know, these apartments are built for the ordinary people. One difference is that there they separate by profession: there is a building for doctors, another for teachers, another for artists and so on... These popular houses are distributed along which new ones are built, both in the central cities and in the away villages. It is true that there is a disparity in the urban city - rural area, but it is not as dense as people think. In North Korea there is only 1 class: the working class. We are also from the working class, the difference is that under capitalism we find ourselves subjugated to the orders and excesses of the bourgeoisie. Since there is no bourgeoisie there, they can enjoy the fruits of their own labor, such as owning a apartment in a nice area of Pyongyang.
@LordDavid04

@@vini-hs1fw Fruits of what labour? There's very little fruit, if there's no labour. Not going to lie but that was cool of Yumi to give the world a tour of North Korea's new town in Pyongyang before it's completed in 2025. But I wouldn't be surprised if the "new town" is only for the people who either works for Kim or who has ties/connected to Kim while the North Korea-born citizens are still suffering under the Kim-Jong dynasty for years. If North Korea wants to thrive and flourish as a beautiful country (like their fellow neighboring countries China with blooming flowers and nature or Russia with their beautiful modern (but a little pieces of the past) architecture) over the generation period to come then Kim-Jong Un needs to stop abusing and open up more for both his country and his fellow North Korean citizens to have a better life and place in North Korea and compete with other countries in the industry (like housing market and healthcare (just incase another man-made virus occurs and spreads worldwide again) for example) instead all this "weaponized" inspired designs in his head.

@felixthecat580 8 ай бұрын
Seems like a politically biased statement. To say Russia is thriving is..well hilarious. That you thought that was a more apt comparison to you than South Korea or Japan is quite interesting. Also China was one a beautiful country, but they destroyed all their history in the cultural revolution and now it's easier to say what parts of the country aren't overly polluted than which are. Agree with you that the country does need to open up for the benefit of it's people. Also yeah all those apartments go to top military/government personnel. Also a lot of scientists involved in their nuclear program I'm guessing based off previous times they open new apartment buildings. I don't see North Korea ever opening up to the extent it would need for economic benefit because it would be a giant threat to the regime. At the end of the day that's all the people in power care about.

 well, Russia is definitely living way better than during the previous few decades. In 2023, Russia became the 5th world's economy by purchasing power parity and the 11th economy in the world by GDP. Pretty impressive considering all the imposed sanctions. 5 of the Russia's skyscrapers are officially the tallest buildings in Europe, one of them being the tallest residential building in Europe. In case you haven't seen them, they look really nice and are quite comfortable too. In 2023 alone, more than 70 000 000 square meters of residential property were built in Russia in 2023, which is more than were built in 2022, and more flats are to come to the market till the end of the year. So yes, why not mention Russia? Also, Russia's cities have a lot of green and recreational zones, and new parks are being built regularly, like Krasnodar Park which was named the best Eurasian park in 2019.

This better than many rich African countries that are not sanctioned who can not even provide for no storey buildings with vast lands. If one thing be told some projects are rather be handled by the State. The state has the organizational capacity to direct public infrastructure projects which no private enterprise can do because it's not profitable. This like also the state of Israel which the public sector does most of the developmental work.

Then his rabid mindless fans and the internet hivemind go on to say "but he's helping people!1!!!" when he clearly isn't just 'supporting' people out of the goodness of his own soul. On the other hand, Kim enacts his policies based around the benefit of the collective people, genuinely helps people in need and gives his country robust social programs and policies to support the sustenance of general wellbeing amongst the population, free from the dehumanising and soulless grips of capitalism holding the people hostage to the coin.
