This is the right film to satisfy the curiosity about the urban situation of the Ruislip and Northwood district in the 60s. it is a car journey made by a moustachioed man with his ''Ruislip-Northwood Scrap Book''. He shows for instence Georgian houses, the Black Horse public house, Old Forge house, new houses, the George Public House and the Urban District Council of Ruislip-Northwood Municipal Bowling Green. However this joyful trip is disturbed by the end....

My home patch 1962 - 1971. Brings back lots of memories, although I don't remember it being in black & white!

Lovely film, I remember it well, a lot was taken around the Eastcote area where I grew up, The large white building I believe is Eastcote House which unfortunately was demolished although there was a strong movement to save it. My mother was on the conservation committee and managed to save the walled garden. The other large house I think was Hayden Hall, this also was demolished and the modern building in the film replaced it. This building was used for various clubs WI, and my ballet school. The athletics ground is Hillingdon Athletics Ground which was actually between Eastcote and Ruislip, My sister was in the team and also David Hemery of Olympic fame. Great to see that this film has survived.

lynda arnold That Hillingdon athletic ground was indeed in a strange place tucked down a quite 1930s suburban road surrounded by houses, i can only think at one time it was possibly a park before that because i doubt it was an atletic track and then built round. The one i enjoyed the most as a kid was Uxbridge Lido, that wonderful open air pool out on the road between Ruislip and Uxbridge on the other side of what was the Western Avenue. I loved that place and used to cycle there with friends from the top end of Pinner/Northwood Hills. Of course there was also Ruislip Lido which was great for familiies. I also used to visit Highgrove Pool a very mod addition in the mid 60s and in thise days you could still use the 10 meter board which seemed very very high, i would think these days the health and safety people would be apoplectic at such activities.
