Join us from atop Pittsburg Landing in the Shiloh National Cemetery for a summary of how the Union and Confederate Armies end up at Shiloh. Garry Adelman is the Chief Historian of the American Battlefield Trust, and General Parker Hills is representing Battle Focus Tours. #ShilohBattlefieldTour
This video is part of our Battlefield Tour Series covering Civil War Tennessee and Mississippi. View the full playlist here: • Civil War Tennessee/Mi...
The American Battlefield Trust preserves America’s hallowed battlegrounds and educates the public about what happened there and why it matters. We permanently protect these battlefields for future generations as a lasting and tangible memorial to the brave soldiers who fought in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, and the Civil War.

Got to spend about 3 hours at Shiloh while driving cross country a few years ago. Not nearly enough time there, although I did get the sense of how rugged the terrain is there and the effect those ravines had on the battle. Excellent setting of the table guys. Am looking forward to your next videos from there.

Had my visit there during the 125th celebrations. Had the good fortune to be traveling with a former historian at Shiloh. Maybe in ways overall the most somber field I've been to. Keep it up men! Thanks!

This is awesome! My Great Great Uncle Jacob was killed here on day two in the 59th OVI. My great great grandfather was shot in the side as well on Day 2, down by the Bloody Pond, but shockingly survived, he was also Company H, 59th OVI.

Somehow I love it that they actually pull out physical printed maps and mark on them instead of doing the digital thing.

Shiloh is probably my favorite Park. Perhaps Grant moved the army there to learn the game of Chunkey. For those that do not know, it is a Reference to the Mississippi Valley Natives that once lived there. Mounds exist there, near the Pittsburg Landing. Probably built around 1200 AD, plus or minus a few hundred years. I don’t think any fighting was done at the site of the mounds, but an Illinois (?) Regiment buried their dead atop one of the mounds. I believe those soldiers have been reinterred into the National Cemetery.
