Navajo Traditional Teachings

Navajo Traditional Teachings

Жыл бұрын

This video is a compilation of all four videos we did of the Sacred Mountains.
East is the most sacred direction so we start there.
We then continue in the continual growth direction (clockwise) until we reach the Norther Sacred Mountain.
Many people think that the Sacred Mountains are the boundary of our Diné.
Actually the boundary goes way beyond the sacred mountains.
Enjoy the video.

I started watching these videos last October when my dog became very ill, eventually leading to us having to put her to sleep. She meant the world to me and I somehow found comfort in listening to Elder Wally talk about the spirit world. His videos eased my anxiety.

I collect the clay that I use for pottery, from Mt. Taylor. Buttery grey clay that the Acoma people use as well. I am Coctaw, but my son, is half Navajo. We often watch this channel for the stories, because my sons family does not know anything about the stories.

Thank-You Elder for sharing these teachings. I wonder if you could consider an episode on Traditional Dress and possibly have some available to display or even allow for purchase. The colors and designs are so beautiful and some of the artwork is awe inspiring from your people. Sorry to bother. Canada

thank you for sharing your words of wisdom, Man! mt blanca is a very sacred place, it is called the flowing mountain because it has caves, from which was once watered a great lake in the san luis valley. once, four rivers flowed from this place, to the north, south, west and east. in days of old the tigris, euphrates, nile, and amazon all were connected to the rio, colorado, mississippi, and one which no longer flows. there is a great caving system beneath the san luis range, which is home to sacred life, a bacteria called blue-green algae, which grows only in alpine lakes on the surface, especially in this area. this bacteria exists in a midpoint between animals and plants, for it actually photosynthesizes! drinking this wild water will cause you to grow tall and strong, and live forever, we used to say. of course, running across the high mountaintops does not hurt either. in the days of atlantis, the ocean came right up to the eastern side of the rockies, and the lake was more of a gulf sea. the land has been continually inhabited in every age of Man, though today its waters run dry, and as i visited this winter, the lake beneath the great sand dunes was all dried up! one day, the waters will return, and all four tribes of man will dwell on these lands yet again, and will never be driven out. until then, survive the diaspora! know your signs! a signal will be lit and the bloodless valley will once again be a place of peace, of tall, golden wheatgrass, of great oak trees, and sweet waters that spill freely from the mountains. Peace and Blessings!

I grew up in the Midwest but have lived within or near these four sacred mountains at least half my life. Although my husband and I relocated from AZ back to the Midwest primarily for family reasons, I always feel the pull to return. NM was an especially sacred feeling area to me, as are some of the more mountainous areas of AZ north of ‘The Valley.’ Thank you for this tour! ❤
