I hope our import/export laws never change. Sure it would be cool to own a lot of other species but you have to think of the bigger picture. Most animals that would be imported if escaped or set free would be able to survive in the wild and mess up our massive biodiversity and possibly wipe out other animals. Same with exporting. Most exports will be illegal wild caught reptiles and that will mess up biodiversity and ecosystems.

macquarii are available in the US, and they're really personable turtles. I've noticed the difference between S American species and Australian species. S.American species tend to be a lot nippier and flighty. I wish we could get some of those Eastern Long-necks. I'm happy you did an episode on Aussie turtles. What a great facility there too. Thanks for this one!

Hey Dav! Another great video. I know you’re from mn like I am! I saw you did my local shop here in St. Paul at twin cities reptile but have you ever been to the RAD Zoo here in Minnesota? It’s owned by a local man and his family! Super great guy, he does snake and alligator feedings on the weekend and is open every day of the week. He also has Justin Bieber’s pet boa he won at an animal auction. Not to mention he has a huge collection of venomous snakes and so many things. He is a really great guy and for the most part just runs it because he love animals and reptiles like we do. I’ve always tried to support him and help him out but it would be cool to see you do a video on it or even check it out and enjoy it! I hope you have a great day and I cannot wait for your next video. -Ashley

I’d have to go for a turtle. Thanks Dav. I loved seeing all of Arthur’s turtles. Those babies were all so cute. I was a little surprised he didn’t have more varieties of turtles. Does Australia have more varieties and he just works with the ones we saw? Since they have that import/export law I can see why the turtle species would be small. Do you know how Australians feel about that law? I can see both sides make sense. Pat

Honestly Australia's export laws are really outdated. Their export laws were made at a time when captive breeding wasn't popular in Australia so back then they were meant from keeping wild populations from getting depleted. Now that's a way different story with captive breeding for morphs. If anything Australia allowing captive born and bred animals to be exported will grow their economy and reptile industry since Americans LOVE Australian reptiles. Now their import laws should stay the same because they don't want Australia to become like Florida..

Exactly! I've always said that if they lift the ban on export of captive bred morphs, every BTS breeder in Oz will be overnight millionaires.

@ Thats exactly what will sell the most! Plus they would have to sell them for way more then what they sell them to each other since the there would not be enough supply for our demand lol

But if you think about it, then we would be getting heaps of guys breeding only for the money and not for the love of animal keeping aswell

Auzzie Reptiles & Herping if you breed reptiles you are doing it for both a passion and for money if you go large scale at least. This business has a way of weeding out the people who do it just for money I believe.Nothing wrong breeding for money on commercial scale because it brings in more people to the hobby.

I'm not much into Turtles. And if I were in Australia, I would definitely keep black-head and woma pythons as well as some blue tongue skinks. And of course I would have to have lots of inland taipans, just kidding!
