Sawyer Ridge Farm

Күн бұрын

Join us as we take you on a little stroll through the wooded half of our property! God is so good, and we love to see His beautiful Creation. We are Blessed to have such a diversity of land even on our small little 10 acre farm! Also we do a quick pond update for those who have been following us for a while now and know that we put our pigs to work this last summer and now our pond is holding more water!

Beautiful land! Your goats will clear that off in no time. Just an idea for tour cedars and the Meet and Greet. Make or buy ( Hobby Lobby ?) little cloth drawstring bags, about 1 1/2" x 1 1/2", and get a Sawyer Ridge Farm logo stamp ( someone on Etsy can make you a really nice one ), stamp your logo on the bags and fill them with cedar chips that have been washed and really well-dried . You can hand them out at the Meet and Greet and even sign them. Cedar makes great sachets because the odor repels moths and other bugs. You can even make 6 "x 6" bags to use as deodorizers in cars/trucks or even in a room in the house. If you don't want to sell them, you can use them as door prizes.

Jacob, I forgot to mention to you in case you haven't run into it yet is that those rocks in the summer are breeding grounds for scorpions. When I leased the Greer property next door when we moved out here, her old house was full of scorpions and they were coming from the large rocks on that hill just north of the house. Best to move rocks with a shovel first before picking any up. Craig

Loved your vedio. Its so pretty over there all year round. Those rock formations remind me of upstate New York were I lived every summer on my great uncles hotel and bungalow place. All my grandmother's side of the family lived their during the summer together. I got to play with all my 1st and 2nd cousins for 2 full months a year. My uncle Abe had a grocery store in the hotel, and all us kids could get ice cream and candys without bothering our parents, as he had a book for each family of what we spent. And notes what we weren't allowed to have. LOL. That was my first lesson on how credit worked at 2 years old. LOL. I still remember how delicious those brown licarish strings tasted 68 years ago. And those log Ice creams. Wow. There was cedar closets in every room. They kept out the bugs. These vedios your making now, document all the progress your making and all the memories you'll be able to look back on with a new point of view in your later years. Your doing great, and I'm proud of you guys. G-D Bless and have a fantastic New Year. 💘

Angels Arrived that is so cool! I love that you have those awesome memories to look back on. 😊 This place looks totally different in the summer time. Some of those views, you can’t see for all the foliage. It’s a huge task to take on for two people, but we want to slowly thin (not completely take out) the wooded area on our land.

@@SawyerRidgeFarm Trees are also important, as they give shade on hot days, to the animals and prevent the grass from burning out. Which the animals also need to eat. It cuts down on how much feed you require for the animals and saves you money. I love the smell of cedar. I have a box made out of cedar that holds a bible given to my father of Blessed Memory, on the passing of his mother of Blessed Memory. It is stamped on the back, that it was made in Nashville, Tenn. By United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Union Made. It has that wonderful aroma of the cedar on the inside, but lost the smell on the outside. It now also has some damage on the outside, due to people I gave shelter to who went threw my home and damaged it, and stole other things, and sold my precious things on the internet. One day I will sand it down and revarnish it. At least they left it, and the bible for me. Perhaps they left it due to the fact it is the Old Testament, and they were Christians. Or perhaps the damages made on it, made it unsaleable to them. The wicked are judged by G-D, not me. So sad.

I heard through Jason Crocker that you are going to go help him get his homestead started. Maybe you and others around that neck of the woods can get a ''barn raising'' for him to have shelter this winter? I would say the sooner the better. My heart goes out to Jason, and he needs the support. Maybe someone has a shed they can donate to him? I know he wants to do what he wants to but I am sure he would be very grateful for any assistance. Call on those other homesteaders to lend a hand. We love Jason and worry about him even though some of us are too old or too broke to give. Thank you for your help. Oh, I subscribed to your channel! Great channel!

Cedar wood would be great to make cupboards and hope chest. Will keep bugs out for sure. Would be a good wood to use any where you want the bugs to stay away from. I do love your vlogs. You two are great. Blessings. When it comes to your ponds, why not get breeding pair of pigs, build a little shelter near the big pond. Keep the breeding pair there, and the ones you want to harvest, put near the small pond. That way you have pigs on both ponds, doing their jobs. Then when you are happy with all the ponds, you will have a lot of pork to either sale, or freeze. Just a thought.

Very nice land. Various slopes and rocky areas. Rustic I like the cedars too. I’m native of southern Missouri ozarks, it looks very “at home” to places I’ve grown up and experienced
