Well done Jim !! I was at the Long Beach show in 1986. Same experience for me. I never heard of Metallica until that show. Poor Ozzy had announced publicly that he was sober. The Metallica fans on the floor were throwing beer on him trying to get him off stage for Metallica. Kinda sad because Jake E Lee was killing it!!!!!

I was at that show! I went two nights in a row and it was awesome. I wasn't into Metallica and wasn't familiar with them till those shows, but man were there a lot of Metallica fans there! That was smart of Ozzy (or Sharon) to choose Metallica as an opening act because it helped them sell out a whole tour solid. Ozzy still put on a great show. Jake E. Lee is the best guitarist I've ever heard and I've been playing guitar for forty years.

I saw them on that tour in 86 too but I knew who they were already! I couldn’t wait to see them and I still love them to this day! Got my kids into them too. When we saw them in 2018 Jim opened for them and it was great!

I was one of those in the Duran Duran/Police camp (nothin wrong with that mind you) but it was only _much_ later in life that I discovered REAL rock, and have been trying to catch up ever since! The funniest - or most ironic thing - is that Metallica, Ozzy, et al, are now the elder statesmen, mentoring and helping younger bands get discovered, something they did for Alice in Chains during the 90s, and who then in turn, are themselves mentoring younger artists. Love that about musicians, never afraid to buoy up others, and spread the love. ❤🎤🎸🔥

I love Jim's comedy because I'm an 80's Metal Head too! Born in 1970 and grew up with THE BEST HEAVY METAL 🤘 I was just getting into Metal in the 8th grade ('83-'84) when "I first heard Kill 'Em All". I had never heard anything like it! And I loved it! My first Metallica show was in 1988 in Denver at Monsters of Rock with Metallica, Dokken, Scorpions and Van Halen. I felt sorry for the other bands. Metallica kicked ass!!!

Oh my gawd! I never thought that I’d be the old person at shows, however my daughter pointed out to me that when we go to see the band Propagandhi, that it will be more older people than younger, as hardly anyone her age knows who they are. Needless to say, I was a little butt hurt about it and only because I know she’s right. 🤣🤣🤣

Well think about it, after Napster/the internet/digital came along artists and the music industry TANKED. Artists could no longer make music via records, what with digital downloading going on (not to mention album leaks). The only way to make money now is by ticket sales/touring and merchandise sales. When an artist is signed by a major label, they HAVE to somehow make money for that label, or they're out on their ears. That's why there are so many "old & gray" artists out there nowadays, they're kind of forced to do it. It sucks, personally I HATE Ticketbastard & their ilk, but what's a musician to do?
