One of GT’s greatest hits!! I told McEnroe I would never ask him for a picture but I had to show Guthrie that I told him this story.. he said, “yeah, I’ll give him the three finger ‘read between the lines’ gesture…🖕🏻” True story.

As an audience person, music lover, and non musician, I can always feel when a musician is truly putting in the work and going to the edge. I don't care, in fact I even appreciate when it goes south occasionally as a result. Thats the price of honesty and hard work. Much respect.

Paul Simon helped institute and fund the Children's Health Fund-: (clinics on buses) after Katrina the CHF buses headed for NOLA relief were stopped by civil authorities- and Paul used his influence with politicians to get them past roadblocks to service these communities. Paul was well aware of the macro effects of Katrina, and using his time with Otis' dad to get a specific POV ( grist for songmill perhaps)

Thank you Otis for your great interviews. I’ve been diving into your music and really enjoying it. I’ve been following Guthrie for a while and studied his on-line lessons and they have been a revelation and really opened up some guitar mysteries for me. It’s awesome to hear these behind the scenes stories. The Art Garfunkel one is a gem - I laughed out loud!

Doug auditioned for my local pop band in Lafayette LA at a club called Poets and I told him he wasn't ready. He moved to New Orleans after that and the rest is history. I'm so proud of him and what he's done and will continue to do. I think he studied with Johnny Vidacovich a monster drummer who is a friend.

Otis, there is something about who you are or/and the interview process you use that makes people tell their best stories. I don't see any other interviewers getting people to open up like this. You don't seem to ask deep questions. Being an insider to show business, they seem to talk directly to you without hesitation.
