From fortress to armory, prison and attraction, the Tower of London is one of the most visited monuments in the city and a symbol of England.
Its history begins with the invasion of the Normans in 1066. It was built on pre-existing fortifications that were part of the wall of the Roman city, Londinium. Since its construction, the Tower of London has been extended several times, although the layout remained until Edward I completed the fortress-palace in 1285.

Today, the Tower of London houses the British Crown Jewels and is a popular tourist attraction. Visitors can enjoy guided tours given by the Beefeaters that allow them to explore the interiors and learn about its fascinating history.
