Q:What camera do you use?
A: I use the Go Pro Hero 6 Black Edition
Q: Why don't you have a rotator?
A: Simply said, our wide open desert highways here in Indio do not require a rotator. Most scenarios allow us to drive the truck right down to the wreckage and perform our recovery without taking up any more lane than a rotator would. Another simple reason is price. They are very expensive trucks that, once again aren't really needed here. With that being said, that doesn't mean we will never get one just not at the moment.

you guys have it eazy, I was a heavy duty tow driver in 70s before underlifts got popular and were affordable, we used plates and chains, for what your doing and "bus bars" for MCI,s Greyhound buses, and before Tiger tools for the big U joints, I miss the job though. Holmes 750s and 850s. and"brake buddies", yeah !! 😆 great video, thanks

for the long air line to the tank I open a window run the line inside up the front and come out the driver's window and to my truck. the tape can come off in transport

I don’t know much about American buses, but here in England on modern buses there is no superstructure at the front, so you’d have to use the front axle, or use wheel fork attachments.

I guess they didn’t bother to drain the air tank... or the air dryer is goosed

That international did not have an air dryer. It had a moisture ejector (that was that gizmo on the air tank). It was only in the 1997 Amtran RE busses from International. They were junk. All of our 1997 Amtran RE’s with the moisture ejector were replaced with Air Dryers cause of all that water that was in the tank, those things were not good, Air Dryers were much better.

As he said in the start of the video normally they put them on low loaders but these particular ones have the front structure. they're rare over here in aus too. have had to wheel lift a few coaches as they dont have an axle and they are too long to go on a low loader. fun stuff.

I recommend putting a bungee cord on the stop sign. Had them fly out before.

You won’t have that issue since the bus is being towed forward. The stop signs aren’t tied down when the bus is normally driving

But on bumps, if there is no key in the ignition, the stop sign can fly out and the motor won’t turn on to put it back in place.

I always just fork the frame with frame forks. We tow buses all the time. If it's a front engine I tow them from the rear

Question: Why pull drive shafts? Ive seen it enough in my time in the military, but never understood it. Why is it a thing, versus leaving the trans in Neutral? Thanks in advance.

Even by leaving the transmission in Neutral, the driveshaft will still spin as the tires rotate, thus turning the engine over. Its safer, and smarter to just disconnect the driveshaft from the axle to avoid the wear on the engine.

@@bonelesswhiskey2865 It doesn't turn the engine over, but the center shaft off the transmission turns getting no oil because the engine is not running, you'll will fry the bearings in the transmission, this applies to the big automatics also

After they take it out of your check a few times, you'll remember, u have to make a check list follow from top to bottom every time,and you won't forget to do nothing.

I would of ran the hose through a window back the back door up to the front, then through the grill, then hook to the glad hand. That take is kinda sketchie. Hope it works (-:

Removing the prop is a lot less messier than what tow companies here do for buses, half shafts are popped, mind you buses here are largely low floor, with very little ground clearance

Serious question, why is there a need to disconnect the driveshaft if the transmission is in neutral?

Because the input shaft runs the cluster gear in the bottom of the trans, that throws oil all over the gears and bearings, the output shaft does not spin the bottom cluster gear in neutral, thus a long tow could ruin the trans. I was told to "always" remove the drive shaft or axels even on a short tow.

For a longer answer, because the transmission is spinning, and spinning means that the oil is heating up. The transmission cooling system is off so you cook your transmission on any long trip. Neutral just disconnects the engine from the transmission. So, drive wheels always disconnected or off the ground.

Plaza Towing I just use bungees to keep it away from the chrome. I definitely understand why you do it, just seems like extra work to do on every tow. Nice work though, I enjoy the videos.
