I'll never forget the time I met Townes. He was playing at a dive bar here in houston, and I met him walking out the parking lot after the show. I shook his hand and all I could think to say was, "How are you?" And he looked at me and just said: "I'm good man, I'm real good."

tried to translated this song. The very first song i've translated. Sort as an honor to mister Van Zandt and as a honor to the language of my youth.

One of my very favorites. Townes is in great form in these videos, relaxed and healthy. The song strikes a deep chord in me, and I find myself singing bits of the lyrics under my breath when circumstances warrant: "Skies full of silver and gold--try to hide the sun, but it can't be done-least not for long".....a reminder to find the beauty in the moment and the trouble WILL pass, just hang on...at least that is what it does for me. And the song itself is often the beauty of the moment.

Yes. No matter how blue a song if his may be, he leaves room for some light to come in. He was seeking that and it demonstrates hope in him. I know someone who writes with that same thing. Always some bit of light and hope peeking in.❤

Yes. His heart. No pretense and humility in bucketloads. As far as the drinking part, I'd rather just be able to sit a while with him on day he was feeling at peace. The beauty he brought out of his troubled soul is a wonder.
