I never get tired of this guy. Like how on earth can someone be such a perfect embodiment of music and human emotion?

"One of the proudest, uh, days ever -- one thing I remember, one point in my career that I remember real well, is when Doc recorded, he recorded a song of mine called "If I Needed You".

Tears. Genius. What a well of feeling. Amazing talent. Bright, brilliant light that burned out far too soon. If you are an alcoholic, seek help. The world needs you.

God, that first part of the interview was all too real. Great video though, Townes spoke clearly and played beautifully.

Man I fucking love Townes honestly. His commitment. So profound to me how he thought he would burn out before his work would. There's unwritten Townes out there and it's sad that never matirlaised

Wow thats awesome. He's easily one of the best songwriters to ever live. I met him when I was very young like 7 or 8 . I was in the same room with Townes , Dylan, and Steve Earle.

Loop and Lil were his parakeets - no-one who has covered the song seems to get that right. Loop was named after the I-610 Loop around Houston.

If I needed you Would you come to me, Would you come to me, And ease my pain? If you needed me I would come to you I'd swim the seas For to ease your pain In the night forlorn The morning's born And the morning shines With the lights of love You will miss sunrise If you close your eyes That would break My heart in two The lady's with me now Since I showed her how To lay her lily Hand in mine Loop and Lil agree She's a sight to see And a treasure for The poor to find.

That’s exactly what he did too...literally. Fell down broke a bone but yet plowed through the pain because he had arrangements made with a Sonic Youth member that wanted to record/produce Townes right here in Memphis. But it didn’t work out. Townes was dead later that same night/early morning. Damn imagine someone doing that today. Breaking a bone but still try to see your plans through...oh yeah without seeing a dr

I watched Blaze last night and while never seeing a Townes interview, i found the way his character was portrayed as superficial. Reduced to a junkie and nowhere close to the man that created such beautiful music. After watching a couple of his interviews, im left wondering why Ethan Hawke would present townes in the way he did.

Ya I hear ya.. I watched 1st 10min of that movie and thought - all the live performances and interviews I’ve seen of Blaze , this doesn’t fit how I imagined him being . Hollywood only gets small portions of the great entertainers lives right I m betting .. rest is for views or ratings

Agreed that movie pissed me off. They made townes out to be a thief by taking blazes guitar after he died . They left out the fact that blaze didn't own a guitar because he would pawn every one he had including the guitar in question , which townes loaned him.
