Not a very well researched video on Hot Springs. Grocery’s stores are not 40 minutes away. There are 4 options in Hot Springs to get essentials: The Hillbilly Market, Bluff Mountain Outfitters, Vasta Riverie, Dollar General. You can even get a few things at Tobacco Road and Sara Jo’s. There are also some farmers market items on the weekends in the summer. There are 6 places to grab something to eat: iron horse station, vinyl pies, smoky mountain diner, the hillbilly market deli, spring creek tavern, and Big Pillow brewery. You can also get some items at the artisan; like coffee, ice cream, bagels, ect. Hot Springs is definitely not a place to move if you want all the conveniences of a bigger town. I moved here almost 30 years ago due to whitewater rafting. Hot Springs sits at the end of section nine. This section has the biggest rapids commercially rafted on the French Broad River. The springs used to be the largest resort in the state with a grand hotel that had a dinning room that seated 600 people. Unfortunately it is no longer there. It also had the first golf course in the state. A nine hole course that was on both sides of what is now 25/70. It is also the first town if you start the Appalachian trail going north from Springer Mountain, GA that the trail runs directly through. If you are a boater, there are three epic whitewater runs within the immediate area, that if lucky, you can run all three (The Laurel River class 4, the French Broad River class 4, and Spring Creek class 5) in a day. Hiking, biking, fishing, paddling, hunting, mining, bird watching, are just a few of the things that are at your fingertips here. The town is bordered by National Forest and has the warmest discovered hot springs on the whole Eastern half of the US. Crime is practically nonexistent. You know your neighbors and in times of floods or power outages people come together. It’s a unique place but not for everyone and not a quick drive to Asheville. We used to have several festivals prior to Covid, but there still are a few day events that take place. Madison County is a big county. And there are many new things popping up like Mulberry Farm wellness center, a new and improved wolf Laurel ski resort, and another retreat center in spring creek. If you lived off a Jupiter Road, you’re just minutes from Weaverville, but if you live up towards Max patch you’re over an hour to Asheville. Taxes and home prices are far less, but thats quickly increasing. In the coming years many things will change. The ownership of the spa and many commercial buildings which are owned by just a few people will eventually be sold. That will change this town and it’s quite possible more big developments could arise. There certainly are some great books that go over the history of Hot Springs, which I highly recommend anyone check out. And finally, they are planing construction of a new bridge over the FB river in the next year or two. Hot Springs is the funniest town in Madison County. There are only three. So come for a visit. It’s friendly, safe, and there’s lots to do over a weekend.

What world do you live in, I have owned a home on Reems creek outside of weaverville. The other places you talk about are so far out from shopping and medical care. The conservative lifestyle you talk about is prejudice, racist and backward.
