My unsolicited advice is to hire an interior designer. Especially for a house that big. Interior designers really know to re-work and optimize spaces and make sure there's continuity in style and color. My house is interior designed and it's very much worth it. I have a very good design eye, but not as good as my designer. He knows all of the vendors, all of the current trends, all of the timeless styles and he thought of things I couldn't have/wouldn;t have.
