Only three times in the contest's history has a non-winning entry been allowed to perform again, and in two of these instances, the entries in question were Spanish representatives. The first time this happened to a Spanish representative was in the 1990 contest in Zagreb, when Azúcar Moreno opened the contest with the song "Bandido." The orchestra and the recorded playback began the song out of sync, which caused the singers to miss their cue. The singers left the stage after a few seconds, and no explanation was given at the time. After a few uneasy moments, the music began correctly and the song was performed in full. Azúcar Moreno and "Bandido" went on to place fifth in the final vote tally, though the juries at the time actually awarded their points after watching the dress rehearsal performances, so the restart did not affect Spain's overall result either positively or negatively. Twenty years later, at the 2010 contest in Oslo, Spain was drawn to perform second in the running order, and singer Daniel Diges's performance of "Algo pequeñito" was disturbed by notorious Catalan pitch invader Jimmy Jump. However, Diges performed the song in full, despite the invader's intrusion and subsequent removal from the stage by security personnel, receiving warm applause for continuing from the spectators at the Telenor Arena. After the exhibition of Serbia, co-presenter Nadia Hasnaoui announced that, according to the rules, Diges would be given a second chance once all the remaining countries had performed. Nonetheless, the juries ranked the dress-rehearsal performance of "Algo pequeñito" 20th out of 25 with 43 points, whereas the televoting results ranked Spain 12th, with 106 points. The combination of jury and televote results gave Spain a 15th-place.

This is impossible! My favorite ESC country - I love more or less all the entries and have emotions tied to most of them... I ended on "Bailar Pegados" A very close fight with Nacida Para Amar... But as I said sooo many makes me feel warm inside and happy. Thank you Spain!

Spain was so undeservedly underrated in the 10's. I like so many bops that they brought (2011, 2016, 2019), so sad that either jury (2011, 2019) or televoters (2016) ranked them very low, so overall they finished in the bottom 5. There's only 2 top10 results (exactly 10th lol) which were the songs with great vocals (Pastora Soler and Ruth Lorenzo), just because of high jury points, they like those vocal power love ballads. I'm so glad Spain didn't decide to turn into Portugal and send only those ballads after that) I vote for La venda (2019), one of the most underrated songs ever, my winner of 2019

My favourite Eurovision song ever is Quedaté Conmigo. I agree with you totally that it is unjustified that it only finished 10th. It should have finished at least in the Top 5. It's an absolutely amazing song and that voice is spectacular.

Spain is the first country that has won the contest twice.(Others,Luxembourg 72,73 Israel 78,79 and Ireland 92,93,94).Spain has also finished second in the contest four times, with Karina in 1971, Mocedades in 1973, Betty Missiego in 1979 and Anabel Conde in 1995, and third in 1984 with Bravo. The country finished last with "Nul points" three times: in 1962, 1965 and 1983, and also finished last in 1999 and 2017.Spain with its overall success is the weakest participant of the Big-5.

In 2015, even though finishing only in 21st place, Spain received points from more different countries (eight) than the countries that placed 13th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th.

always love hearing Spain, they've gotten a bad rep from being one of the "big five" (except "Do It For Your Lover", which is horrid and one of the worst Eurovision songs ever). This was hard, but as much as I love "La Venda" and "Say Yay!", I have to give my vote to "Eres Tu". Timeless.

Spain has had some decent songs, however the situation in 2017 was unacceptable, in Spain we had a show (idk if it still is on) that picked someone to go to eurovision, there was a girl that genuinely had the potential to win eurovision, but she didnt go cuz of that shows judges. The show was rigged, there are plenty on videos on youtube of the finale and you can hear the audience booing that guy.

Shall we talk about 2017? Spain had Contigo with Mirela, Momento Crítico with Maika and Ouch with LeKlein and they sent Manel Navarro!!!!!! I saw Objetivo Eurovisión that year and the voting was a huge scandal/fiasco.

But if I have to, it must be El with Lucia from 1982. My mom had that song on her tape recorder in our little Corolla car, when I was a child in the early 90's. She used to record every ESC on tape, and just the tape from 1982 got stuck in the casette player in the car. For three to four years we only could listen to the ESC of 1982 when we went out for a drive. So I got some great memories from that particular contest and especially El with Lucia wich got us all hooked and singalong. 🙏

Rafael was a great performer and still is. 1976 was a great song but blighted by politics. 1979 was from Peru. 1989 is great song from a great musician. 1992/2000 is a blind performer and is still well-known in Spain (from Pamplona originally). 1997: His father Dyango is better known. You two are certainly funny! Spain has produced some good music but again, some countries are biased.

It is something very complicated, but do you think it has something to do with the fact that Spain always remains in the last places because we belongs to the Big five? Or is it simply because of our songs, our language, or because of a rejection of the country? Before answering me ... some songs are regular, we know it, sometimes... they are terrible!!!, but there are worse that them every year but better in the table. It is not true?

Isn't Pastora Soler dramatic? You have to recognize that you like dramatic and a little shouty women but not men. So, what's the solution for Spain. With power ballads we can't do better than 10th. Latin maybe? Maybe should try again with David Civera. I think we are a little lost about that should we send to Eurovision. Those 20ish positions that you say are not deserved make very difficult to recruit any artist who already has an established career. Monica Naranjo, Rosalia, David Bisbal, C. Tangana or Álvaro Soler would do an amazing job but don't they gonna risk their careers.

My favorite spanish entry will always be Eres Tu from 1973, my 2nd is 2012, my 3rd is 1995, my 4th is 2020, and my 5th is 2001. Their entry from 2008 is the one I dislike the most, it's SO annoying.
