The Toyo Open Country AT3 is coming! So we figured we'd do a back to back long term test with the AT2... and the Toyo Open Country AT 2 Long Term Review is here! We put nearly 12,000km on the Open Country AT 2 and they really were a jack of all trades, master of quite a few!
Overall, really impressed with this tyre. From sand, rock, gravel and even the hard top, they performed exceptionally well. This time round, we were able to compare the used tyre to a new AT 2 in the studio. This is a great way to see the how the tyre stands up to over 11000km on the road.

I have had LT265/65/17 Toyo ATII on my 2014 Colorado for 4 years and 80,000km and still have 6.5mm until the minimum 1.5mm. These have been a great tyre

Thanks mate! You must have watched till the end, as I bloody forgot to mention the comparison till then 😅 I might make a specific AT3 long term review, but also if I can source a second set of rims I'll try a back to back comparison, as I still have the AT2s in the warehouse 🤔

I'd love to know what to look for in tyres when towing a medium size camper too. Are the excellent reviews on different tyres also applicable to towing conditions or are the demands sufficiently different to change some of your recommendations? Keep up the great work - I particularly appreciate your straight talk.

Hi mate, thanks for your comment! I think I'd be interested in that, too, as I don't tow regularly. I might see if I can track down someone in the caravan world and pick their brain enough I can make a video out of it. I mean, I would think that a stiffer sidewall would help out with any squirlyness that might come about as part of towing a medium to large trailer, but that comes with trade offs too. Stay tuned!

@@TyreReviewVideos Very cool! Thanks. I hadn't thought about the stiffness of the sidewall for towing. I just assumed air pressure was the be all and end all. Clearly that is not the case, so yes please, any info on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

Had 265/70/16 on 03 v8 4runner. Great tire but started having cracks allover evenly spread across tread after 4 years and 25k. Hiway miles. very disappointing 😞. They looked unsafe. Terra grapplers have nt shown cracks yet..time will tell.
