I’ve ran both of these tires and can say without a doubt that the at3 are much better tires then the ridge grapplers, minus the look, and that is it. They perform better in every aspect, other than the look.

I have the AT3 and go off roading for fun and photography and I absolutely love them! Quiet on road and grabs everything off road

I have ran both of these tires. Living in the south I don’t deal with snow. Both are good tires but I prefer the ridge grapplers. The toyos get very loud when they get about half worn. I have talked to other people in my area that run them and they agree also. The ridge grapplers will become a little louder but not much as they wear. The tread mileage is about the same.

Have had the toyo’s on my 4Runner for about 5k miles. Still look like new, have handled well off road and on dry pavement and heavy rains. Happy so far. Only slightly louder than stock highway tire and fuel mileage is similar.

I have a set off the Nitto Ridge Grappler 35x12.50r20 on my F150 and they do really well in the snow and ice as far as I'm concerned. Many miles on both and never felt any loss of control or major slipping. Im glad to see this comparison. Thank you Guys!!

I have a set of Nittos on my jeep and couldn't be more happier with them on and offroad they are a very well designed tire for the daily driver and weekend offroader!!!

I have been converted to Toyo tires, especially the at3. Excellent tread wear and road manners, they also pull like a steed off road.

Ah, this Toyo open country AT3 looks so capable for both road/off-road condition's. I personally like the fact that Toyo improve off-road performance of Open Country A/t compare to previous model - Open Country a/t plus. Unfortunately here, in Russia we still don't have a 3rd generation of Open Country tires, only previous models are available. Anyway thank u so much for your review and your work as well. For North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains weather, my Ridge Grapplers are great. I rotate them regularly (with the spare). My 92 Jeep Wrangler YJ drives incredible with my 80/20% road- light trail riding.

I have the Ridge Grapplers on my 2016 Denali. I upgraded from the GY LS2’s after I blew one out. They’re a great combination of looks and road manners. Being heavier than OEM I lost 1 mpg in and around town. They’re holding up well in the often hellish Georgia heat and perform well in the rain. I love them. I will probably upgrade to Nitto’s on my 3500HD when I purchase next year.

I recently swapped out the stock 20 inch wheels on my 2020 F150 for aftermarket 17s with Toyo Open Country AT 3s LT 285/75 R17 Load Range C tires. That size is also available in an E rating, but my driving applications don't call for E rated tires. So far, I'm very happy with them. Videos and pictures really don't do these tires justice. Those lugs are bigger than you think, and the tire itself definitely says "quality". Nothing unusual as far as road noise, but certainly a bit noisier than a typical highway tire design. As far as the ride, it's just a bit rougher than the p rated 20s I had from the factory, but nothing I would consider obnoxious or uncomfortable. I would imagine the E rated version of these tires would be a bit stiffer. So far, nothing to complain about with these tires, though I haven't had them on the truck for a long period of time yet. It's the middle of February in Pennsylvania at the time I'm posting this, so hopefully Mother Nature will throw down a large blanket of the white stuff sometime soon. I'd really like to get these tires into some good snow, as they certainly look like they're up to the task.

I running Ridge Grapplers on my F-150 and love them. Never had a problem on or off road. I’ll stick to what works for me! Great tire!

I've never used the "Toyo's" but did have the "Nitto's" and while I drive 50/50 hwy. /off rd. (I work oil and gas in Colorado ). not a bad Tire on Hwy (sort of noisy) but did well on dry dirt although I wouldn't recommend as a Winter off road dedicated tire. I now run "GY Duratrac's" and honestly have been the best tire I've used in Snow(without them being a dedicated "Snow" tire). I 've used the "BFG KO2's" which are good off road but very soft rubber diminishing the lifetime of the tire (approx. 35-40 K Mi.) A good daily AT tire for winter with less off roading I found the "GY All Terrain" to be pretty good . As always watch your tire pressure and keep it even on all 4 corners to maintain the life of your tires . Thanks!

Absolutely love the Toyo At³. Personally I'm on my 2nd set now. Rotated every oil change, the 35X12.50 R20 I run on my 95' Chevrolet K1500 lasted just over 90000 miles. I have a farm and work in construction, so I've taken them a fair bit off road and never had an issue in mud or rock.

Best video period on these tires and made it so much easier to pick.

I’ve got some AT3s on my 16 F150 and they’ve been amazing. I regularly take them out on some GA/AL trails (mostly wet clay) and have never had traction issues. And the on road ride is hardly any different feeling than when I had the stock shoes on.

I've got the MT in 17x37x13.5. Awesome tires! Quiet on the road, amazing on the trail when aired down. I considered these 2 brands and went with Toyos for a few reasons: I liked the 13.5 width. They're made in Georgia. I liked the way they look better. They also brake on the road extremely well!

I have a set of the Toyo Open Country AT3 and found them an excellent tire. On a JK.

AT3s are crazy good on the road with tons of stability in the turns and smooth quiet ride. They also balanced perfectly. We'll see how their on road performance degrades as they wear as I think the chamfered(probably the wrong word) edges on all the tread blocks keep the squirm way down. Once that goes, it probably won't be as amazing. Competent off road. No complaints there and performs on par with everything else(where on road is exceptional). I do like that they have uneven shoulder blocks.

I ran the Toyo r/t on my 04 f250 and they were great. Fantastic traction in every condition and got 40,000 miles out of them, not very loud. They were just too heavy and mpg suffered a lot. I ordered Toyo at3 for my 20 f350, still waiting on them. Hoping for some decent snow and sand traction, that’s why I didn’t buy the nittos.

I have the Nitto Ridge grapplers 35/12.5/20 on my 2017 f250, with 50k mi already on them and are still very quiet I’ve run Nittos on my trucks for years and I live in the Chicago area and plow in the winters. Great tires, I would highly recommend them to anyone, I’m gonna be getting a second set in the next 10k mi.

I just got the Toyo At3 Open Country tires on my 2016 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited 4dr, And I LOVE THESE TIRES ! NO Loud road noise, handles very well , on and off road, I am def stuck on these Toyo Tires, I go to N.C. and Tn. OFFROADING about 4 times a year, there is snow and ice. Not a problem with the Toyo AT3 !!!

I have the ridge grapplers on a ram 1500. Oversize and heavy 10 ply tires on 20's. Wearing very well though after 20,000 plus miles, still almost full tread! I live off a ten mile gravel road I drive daily. No chunking or rock chips, even wear. These tires are great off road. Didn't pack up in mud. No digging in soft sand. They didn't hydroplane in heavy rain. Very stable actually. Only weak spot is heavy frost or icy snow pack. They act like a mud tire in extreme cold conditions. They are staying in balance. 80 to 90mph is very quiet and smooth. Good grip on asphalt. I bought them for looks mainly. They look like a mud tire from the sides. I was going to switch them out for the winter. But so far they are handling it just fine. Plus they are not wearing out as fast as my bfg all terrains. Those are a waste of money if you drive a lot. I may go back to the Falken atw's next year on my daily. Even though they are noisier and slip on gravel roads. They can handle icy conditions better. And they wear slowly.

Had the AT2’s for 49k miles & had 9/32 left from stock 15or16/32’s. I could of had another year out of them but only lost the tires bc of dry rot & rolled 1 tire and it slit the sidewall bc of how soft they got. Just installed the AT3’s 2 weeks ago on my 06 Ford E350 Super Duty Quigley 4x4 and love them!! I have the LT285/70/17 Load E. They feel very sticky and weighted on the road and def ride a lot smoother!

Most of us in my Jeep club here in AZ run the Ridge Grapplers with great results in the desert and rocks, with no retention os rocks and debris at all. We encountered some snow this spring and they worked fine in about 14 to 20 inches. Some buddies are running the Toyo's (made by the same company I have been told) and they like them fine. Both seem to hold up way better than the Bridgestones that came on my JLU.

Running 35" ridge grappler. 65,000kms so far tons of tread left. Amazing in mud, rain pavements, sand everything except for the snow and Ice (offroad) they were fine in winter onroad. I've always run KO2 as a preference at tire over others I've tried. The ridge grappler have been amazing quiet and capable. I just wish they had more siping for winter driving. Tempted to give the at3 a try next set or else likely the nitto exo grappler.

Toyo ATIIIs on Ram HD 2500 hauling an 8-ton boat/trailer or 7-ton dump trailer in FL. Had Toyo RTs on before at improper load rating for the vehicle and they lasted almost until replacement time. I was sold on Toyo by the way the warranty was handled. I abused the tires and they stood up and Toyo still stood behind them in a fair way. Switched to ATIIIs and still very happy with them.

2020 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road DC with Toyo Open Country AT3. Great in snow, way better than the OEM Goodyear garbage that came on the truck. Same size tire, mileage is nearly the same and they look a lot better. Slightly rougher ride at the same pressure. 2015 Ford F350 Lariat 4D 4x4 SB 6.7L PS with Nitto Ridge Grapplers. They have done ok in the snow, but the mileage took a pretty good hit. 15 highway at 80-85mph vs 18ish on stock Michelins. Went with slightly larger 35x11.50 over stock. Great ride.

I had Nitto RGs on my Ram 2500. I live in MT. They were very slick in the snow. Also the wore and cupped with in the 1st year I had them. I’m going this time with Falken WPs.

I acquired Toyo AT3's about two days after they were released in 2020. I have these in 35/12.50/R17 on Method 701's. I have taken these tires through a lot of different off-road terrain types; dirt, gravel, sand, mud, sharp rocks, and shallow rivers. On-road noise is non-existent for me, handling on dry and wet roads is very good. The only place I haven't taken Toyo AT3's is in the snow...yet. I've put about 10,000 miles on them and couldn't be more impressed or happy with them. Amazing tires!

I have the 35x12.50x18 ridge grapplers on my 2017 f250 powerstroke. They have been decent tires. My only complaint is they get horrible wet weather road traction. I have about half tread left but i am taking them off and going to the Toyo AT3 due to that

I just ordered the Toyo AT3 with Method wheels from Tire Rack for my 2021 Toyota 4Runner. I can't wait.

I recently got the Toyo AT3's and am impressed with them. Their not noisy and ride well. Taken off road a few times and seem great. Haven't used them in the snow yet but they will get their use this winter for sure. I initially wanted the Falken tires but these Toyo's were a much better deal.

I have run Terra Grapplers, Trail Grapplers and Ridge Grapplers on my Land Cruisers and Tundra 4x4. I got nearly 60k out of my Trail Grapplers by rotating all 5 tires every 6k miles. Great tires...but got noisy towards end. Terra's were great tires...on road was exceptional...sand and light mud were very good as well as snow/slush/ice... Some limitations in goopy clay based mud but with enough wheel spin would clean out better than BFG AT's.... Ridge Grapplers were my attempt to compromise between the more aggressive Trails...and the more road friendly Terra's. I have had them about a year now....so far so good. I am not sure if will get 60k out of them...but they are holding well, have not experienced any wet weather handling issues...and have done well in the mud and loose conditions. I dont go offroading and rock crawling as much as I used to so contemplating going back to Terra's after this set but wont know for sure until I see how they wear...if they get noisier at highway speeds as they wear...and if handling and traction change over next year or two. I have another trip out west in mud and snow next Fall-Winter so that will be real test as the Terra Grapplers handled it suprisingly well in past. I love Nitto tires though.....out of 5 sets, I got my first puncture this year...nothing a plug kit could not fix and was back up and running. Tough as nails....

I've had Ridge Grapplers on my Ram 1500 for over 50,000 miles. I have NOT been happy with them since day one. I had one replaced because it wouldn't balance. Felt like the others were balanced okay but not great. The replacement tire wouldn't balance out either. The shop even checked the wheel. I've just lived with it. The ride is little rough and harsh although they are very quiet. The wet traction is my biggest complaint as it's pretty bad, I spin the tires and hydroplane too easily. They even spin on wet grass. Just overall a bad experience. I'm excited that it's time for new tires. I have Falken Wildpeak AT3W on my Wrangler LJ Rubicon. It's an excellent tire. The ride is better, the traction is better in every condition both on and off road. It even sticks in the rain. I've climbed nasty hills in the rain at an offroad park that I didn't expect any AT to climb. I realize this isn't an even comparison because of vehicle weight and tire sizes of 35" on 20" (Ram) vs 33" on 16" (Jeep). However in my experience the Falken is just better than the Nitto in every way except one. The Nitto has a more aggressive looking sidewall for that all important image factor. I am now shopping for new truck tires. I know I should probably just buy the Falken for it but I can't help but shop and see what my other options are. The new Toyo AT3 looks promising but just knowing that Nitto and Toyo are sister companies is a huge turnoff.

I had the Ridge Grapplers on my 2500hd and switched to the AT3s. Both tires have performed well. In my opinion, the RGs didn’t wear as fast as the AT3 and the AT3 has road noise up until 35mph and then it gets quieter than the RG. I’d buy both again. It’s a toss up for me given the aggressive look of the RG

I run a 33x12.50R16 ridge grappler on my 08 Colorado, came from BFG AT ko3, I will not go with any other tire now, I am sticking my ridge grapplers, quiet on road, even sticking out 2inches, very very quiet, off road traction is amazing, I have a friend who has the toyo tires compared in this video, we have went through trails together and seen him get stuck in places I didn’t, the side bitters on the grapplers are amazing, can go in 1st gear and walk ur way out of anything, yes they have a tendency to become slicks in mud, but do a great job at shedding that very quickly, so it doesn’t become much of an issue, now of course these aren’t true mud tires so you can’t get into deep deep mud, but you can go through a normal amount of mud just nothing where ur rim is touching mud, driving in wet conditions, Iv read where this aren’t great but not terrible so a medium in the rain, I have had no issues with gripping while needing to slow down, a lot of that also depends on the driver, if your ganna slam ur breaks your ganna slide, so use some common sense there on breaking, I haven’t ever needed to slam my breaks going fast in rain but overall no slippage stopping or going at red lights, I don’t live where it snows, so no comment there, overall I paid 210$ a tire, best price I couldn’t find in a 33x12.5, performance has passed all expectations the bfg set, quieter, smoother, better traction on and off road, the only down fall is speed rating, if you have a truck/suv with a V8, these aren’t the tires for you, my dad has a sierra with a 6.2L, he can’t run the ridge grapplers cuz the engine is too strong and speed becomes an issue, so if your truck/suv can easily cruise at 80-85mph then don’t go with these because they top out at 99mph, go bfg for V8s, they can handle the speed of an engine like that, so overall I would give these tires a 9/10 rating, they aren’t perfect but from my experience with 15,000 miles on them, I have no complaints and have no intentions of going with any other tire when these need replacing

I have a set of Ridge Grapplers, 305/45/22, on my 2019 5th Gen Ram. Current approaching 40k miles and it will be time to replace them on the next rotation cycle is why I watched this video. I am in Houston Texas so no snow for me with the occasional off-road adventures in the country. They have held up supper well and remained pretty quite. Grip in the rain started to fall off after 30k miles. I am interested in the Toyo Open Country but like the look of Ridge Grapplers. Decisions, decisions.

Just put 305/70 17 AT3s on my 16 wrangler. Very quiet tire, jeep rolls straight with no wandering. Does great offroad. Will follow up after the winter months on road conditions.

Was going to get the At3 but they where not available at the time since i needed new tires badly for my little trip to big bear which i knew it was going to be snowing up there . So I went with ridge grappler for my 2012 4runner and they performed great on snow there was no need for chains or put it on 4 low what so ever. The Only time I was on 4 Low was when I was going down hill where there was some slick spots then I had that bad boy in 4 Low on 1st gear. Other then that i was pretty much on 4 Hi the whole time up there. The Ridge grappler ride very smooth and Quiet on the highway at 40 psi. There even smoother on dirt/ rocky roads and on snow at 18 psi.

I love my toyo at3, I live in maine and use them for every season. We get crazy different weather and terrain up here, the at3 work great in it all

Running the Ridge Grapplers 295x70x17 on my 200 series Landcruiser in Australia and love them previously had Toyo AT2

I have the grapplers on my f350 and they were really great tires for the first 25000km but i forgot to rotate them once and they have become in need of replacement soon because of it. Overall a good tire but had poor mud performance due to slicking up a lot and very in need of frequent rotations. I will buy the AT3's for my next set and see how they do. Lack of warranty on the Nitto's is also a big downside vs the Toyo's

I just switched from 33" Michelin Defender LTX to 35" Ridge Grapplers. It's incredible how quiet the Nitto's are. I had no clue an aggressive tire could actually be quiet. Bravo, Nitto. I am a loyal fan now. 2019 RAM 1500 Laramie

I run Nitto Ridge Grapplers on my Ram 3500. I tow a heavy 5th wheel camper. These tires have been flawless on the highway and on muddy farm roads in Arkansas. On my 2nd set. The first set wasn’t rotated regularly and did tend to scallop as noted in the video. Considering AT3 for my new Tacoma. Appreciate these videos.

I appreciate the video and your details about each tire. I was curious about the Nitto's, but my 2 finalists were the Falken Wildpeak and Toyo AT3. Especially because of their 3PMSF rating. Just happens that the AT3's has a slight advantage there too, although here in my area of Colorado the Wildpeak's are about $250 cheaper for a full set. I stilled ordered my AT3's a week ago. They arrived today and get put on tomorrow. Mounted, balanced and road hazard for $1005.73. Love my military discount!

I have the Toyo A/T 3’s on my 2011 F250 after running Goodyear duratracs for several years. I like them so far and they are quieter than the Goodyears.

I have the at2’s and they’re awesome off road and on. I’m sure the AT3’s are even better

One of the things I like about the Toyo / Nitto lineup is they offer some different load ratings for the same size tire. I'm swapping out the 20 inch wheels on my 2020 F150 for 17 inch fuel assault's with 285/75 R17 Toyo Open Country AT 3's. Those tires are offered in both C and E load ratings. I don't haul or tow heavy loads, and my off road activity pretty much takes place on sandy beaches, so there was really no need for an E rated tire. C rated will do just fine for my applications. I think they might be the only company to offer that size in a load rating less than E.

Love my AT3’s (295/65r20 on my 22’ F150 with a 2.5 in level kit).

I run 35x12.5x20 on my 2018 Ram 2500 and on my 2012 Silverado 1500 and I love these tires. They perform well and they wear great with regular rotations.

I had the ridge grapplers on my 350 dually. They did not evacuate mud very well. I just ordered the toyo AT 3's so we'll see how they do this deer season.

I got the at3 on 2011 ram sport. I Love them so far. Super quite for a 285/60/20.

Falken wildpeaks vs ko2s is basically the 2 AT tires people around me always argue over. I am all about the falken wildpeaks but I do want to try to ridge grapplers sometime in the future

Got 31x10.5r15 Open Country AT3. 12-18" powder snow, Went through very well. Pretty surprised for a non mudder.

I had the ridge grapplers in 35/12.5/r18 and they are horrible. Was raining on my way to mount Hood and just a small amount of water in the ruts was kicking my front end over like a foot, talk about pucker. I was way more comfortable in the snow and ice up on mount hood. Bought new tires the next week.

I love my AT3s on my 03 4Runner.

10-12k miles on Lt an p size at3 . Both still look new rotated once so far.

Snow rating is a must for me. Who does not love playing in the snow!!

It’s interesting that the AT3 would perform better off-road as the RG is advertised as an AT/MT hybrid with more aggressive side biters for rock traction. Even though Nitto makes an AT and Toyo makes a hybrid, I’m glad you covered these two as they’re my finalists. I did notice that the price difference between the two models in my size (35 or 37) is significant. Wish the side biters were just a little more aggressive on the AT3s and it would be a no brainer.

I've had 2 sets of the Nitto Ridge Grappler on my 2016 Ram 2500 diesel truck. Great tire first set I got 75k out of them 2nd set I'm running two different air pressures and I have 90k on them with still about 1/4" of tread left. Obviously I rotate them every oil change. Hardly any road noise they don't cup.

I bought the Toyo when they first came out, over 3 yrs ago. I got almost 60k of hard (mostly) highway miles as of now and still have tread left. On my 2011 4x4 Ram 1500 sport I've travel to work so been through 5 states in different winter conditions, summer, ice, snow. They are best tires I've owned. Never ran the nittos but they are better in all ways than the ko2. Super quite, ill be buying toyoat3 again.

I have the nittos on my rebel love them. They are quite on the highway and decent so far. I have dedicated winters, living up in Canada need a good set of winter tires thats for sure. Like the look of the toyo might give those a try next time or try out the new nitto recons

I have two trucks. One with the Toyo AT3 and Wildpeak AT’s as well. Both of those I have been extremely impressed. I have heard great things about the Ridge-grappler. I think all three of these tires you cannot go wrong with.

I really appreciate this video. I'm going from Michelin A/Ts to Toyo AT3 but I was debating between those, the Ridge Grapplers, or the BFG KO2s. For my 04'Tundra, the AT3s made the most sense. Thanks for a great informative vid

I love trail builts reviews. I cant speak for every tire or situation but I run the Toyo open country AT3's. I live in Utah and we have just about every driving condition you could imagine. My Toyos haven't let me down. Im sold.

Just put a set of 35x12.5r20 AT3 Toyo on my 5th Gen 2020 Ram 1500 4X4 today and although it’s been one day I am BEYOND impressed, I’ve tried lots of tires on my rams and Jeep Wranglers over the last few years and goodness these are quiet and so good looking and the snowflake rating is actually important. Also the treadlife warranty. Kind of a no brained for the AT3’s. Had ridge grapplers and I loved them but these “seem” better so far and on paper.

I run LT305/55R20 Nitto Ridge Grappler's on my 2020 F150 4X4, they are excellent on and off the road.

I put the Toyo AT lll on my stock JKUR in 255/80r17 and I absolutely love em. Quiet and great ride and good off-road so far.

Thanks for the info. I briefly had the at2’s and they were great compared to my couragia MT’s I have now. I also have the grapplers on another truck and man they dry rot fast and I had some serious heel toe go on with them but they are fairly quiet. I’m thinking I’m going with the AT3 this time around hope it’s the right choice

Just purchased a set of AT3s about a month ago, for my 06 4Runner, 285/70/17… have about 1100 miles on them. They’re ok, but they for sure need a more aggressive sidewall. They are getting beat up by most all the competition in that aspect. Def would love to try the Ridge Grapplers.

Live in northern Indiana in the snow belt. Currently have the ridge grapplers on a ram 2500 and at3 on a ram 1500 and the at3 are phenomenal especially in the snow… the ridge grapplers are absolutely horrific in the snow and not that great in the mud. Basically the ridge grapplers are good for lifted or aggressive looking pavement pounders in good year round weather. The at3 tires are one of my all time favorite on road, off road and in inclement weather. Have had many different tires including bfg all terrain, bfg km2, good year duratrac, kumho mud terrain, cooper discoverers, nitto terra grapplers and general grabbers. The toyos are hands down best tire I’ve owned

I really want the AT3 in 35x11.5 R17 for my jeep

Got the ridge grapplers. Don’t like them in the snow. Super quiet on the hwy. Good road handling. But I’ve also struggled in the mud. Will probably try something different after these. I live in the mountains and snow is a factor. If your only off roading moderately or don’t drive in a lot of snow, I’m sure they are great.

I got 85k miles out of my ridge grapplers. 305/45/22. Great tires. Lots of off-road and trailering, too. Just got a set of AT3s this morning. We will see how they do.

Nitto ridge grappler 35x12.50 on my 2017 duramax with 45k on them tred wear is ok but they are not good in the snow or wet roads. Going to try At3 next! Already have had duratrac and bfgs a/t in the past Duratrac has been the best so far!

I'm running a set of the Ridge Grapps on my 18 F150 in 305-55-20 and while I love the looks I'm not sure I'll run them again. I live in the south, no snow to deal with, but rainy climate. I currently have about 45K miles on them and can likely get another 15-20K if I estimate right. They're nice and quiet and ride well and again, look great and have done well in sand. But they are crazy scary in the rain. Almost ate my stuff on a few conditions in hard rains, basically have to crawl or park it if its a heavy rain storm. Probably going to try the AT3's next go round.

What about a comparison between these and the Cooper Discovery xlt a/t lll.

2021 Ram 1500 classic with 20" wheels. I drive 99% road and of that 60% back and forth to work on normal streets 39% of the time on highways. The 1% is for gravel roads that I barely ever go down. I am in Ontario with winters of cold snow and ice. I don't have a second set of wheels and probably won't have any. I don't plan on buying winter tires but its not completely out of the picture. I really only care about mpg, sound, and durability/wear length. Forgot to mention I tow a 6x12 enclosed utility trailer during the summer nearly every weekend. What tire do you recommend? Doesn't have to be either of these two in the vid... Thx

Imma try the Toyo next. I had Bf Goodrich KM3 m/t and KO2 a/t and I like em, but mpg hurts and curious how Toyo will do compared to them.
