Here I demonstrate how to fix the LCD Screen back light on a 2008 Toyota 4Runner. This video is not extremely in depth; however, I do have another video that is a lot slower and has more explanation for every step.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!! I rode around for almost 2 years with half of that screen lit because somebody at the dealership told me it was an internal issue and I'd have to replace the whole control unit. I should have known better. I watched your video and fixed it myself in less than 10 minutes. 👍

Toyota dealership told me it would cost me $135 to run a diagnostic to find out why the panel was only half lit. I told them I would figure it out myself. Thanks to your video and a $3.65 bulb, I saved a ton of money. Toyota dealerships rip people off!!

Thanks for another simple fix! I paid the dealership $100 to replace one of these bulbs years ago. I told them to just replace both but they didn't. Then later the other went out and is still out. Not for long...

Thank you for this video. I have owned my 2008 for a few years and just left mine half lit. After seeing this video today, I went to buy the bulbs and fixed within five minutes.

Suggestion: Include a quick 5-10 sec clip of showing the bulb in case someone has the wrong one, etc... Either way, thank you for the information.

Thank you for posting this video. I was able to get the bulbs out in about 2 minutes. Now I just have to buy new bulbs. It amazing how much you can learn on you tube!

Thanks for this....I followed it and it took me less than 10 minutes. I did pop the top clips in before the bottom, and it worked fine!

If you go to your local Toyota dealership parts department they can sell you the bulbs you need for like 6 dollars a piece.

David Kilpatrick, you can go to your local dealership parts department and they will sell you the bulbs you need for like 4-6 dollars depending on the one you have out.

Terrance Gamble, the easiest thing to do is to purchase these bulbs from your local Toyota dealership parts department. You basically walk in and tell them the year make and model of you car and which bulbs you need and they will look them up in the computer for you. The bulbs cost is about $6-8 dollars for each bulb purchased. The other option is to change the bulb in the original socket. Can you tell me what you did at 0:28 timestamp of this video? At this timestamp I noticed the backlights on the 3 control knobs turned on. I'm having a problem with my backlights turning on. I have changed all the light bulbs but that did not help. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Deron Mashburn I have the same question, I still need to switch out the backlights on the control knobs. But being able to have those at night while driving would be helpful.

It's good to know what to do to replace the bulb, but it would have been helpful if you mentioned what bulb you use for the replacement or at least show the bulbs themselves in your video.

Christian CG The easiest thing would be to just go to your local Toyota dealership and purchase the exact ones you need. They do have some available online if you know exactly which ones you need. I would also recommend doing a little research if you are purchasing online that way you can ensure that you get the right ones.

You could maybe check to see if you have a blown fuse for your back lights. Fuses are located up underneath the dash and you can refer to the back of the fuse panel or the owners manual for a list of which fuses control what. That’s there I would start if you have replaced the bulbs and there is still no light.

Hi apologies for not replying soon checking of fuses was carried out at times it works well have now developed problems with cd player please advise
