In Japan, March 30, 2015―Toyota launched a sportier Corolla Fielder and a more modern Corolla Axio in Japan on April 1. In addition to interior and exterior styling changes and improved fuel efficiency1, the redesigned models will be the first to feature the brand new Toyota Safety Sense.
The latest redesigns build upon a well-established heritage that stretches back to 1966, when the first generation Corolla was launched. When the Corolla was first developed, Tatsuo Hasegawa, the project general manager in charge of the car, told his development team to picture a car that would bring happiness and the convenience of mobility to people around the world. True to that vision, the Corolla has always been a reliable, practical, and easy-to-operate car that, over almost 50 years, has stayed in tune with the changing times. In this latest partial redesign, the Corolla will become the first model to offer the all-new Toyota Safety Sense.
