The 2024 GR Corolla is a hot hatch that’s defined by its flaws and limitations as much as its capabilities. Today I’ll give you more of a personal look into the GRC to help you decide between it and cars like the Honda Civic Type R, Hyundai Elantra N, VW Golf R and more!

With all the tech and gimmicks in cars currently its nice to see a simple hot hatch that will most likely last well over 200,000kms. My biggest gripe is the price and that Toyota doesn't offer it in green😊. Great purchase decision and thank you for sharing your candid ownership experience.

@@Letstalkcod I dealt with the replacement of a GR’s engine after the driver money shifted while tracking it. What it comes down to is how the driver handles it. Daily driver it could last to 200,000 kms, if it’s abused then it won’t last long.

I've been driving my GRC for about two months, and I'm liking it so far. The grip, and power I get on the road is very sufficient for everyday driving. Plus, the number of mods you can do opens up more enjoyment. There are plenty of better cars out there than this, but I can tell anyone who gets this you won't regret it.

2 thumbs up on this review. I drove one and fell in love. Maybe it was the quick dartiness while doing highway pulls, maybe it was the instant traction whenever I wanted. Man that car brings a smile to my face when I think of it. Looking to get one hopefully within a week (waiting on delivery).

Great review! As another GRC owner you are spot on with your assessment. The only difference I have experienced is the lack of rattling and it may literally be a dice roll for us owners on that. I've had a few, but they were ore so from items in glove box. I was even running an 85A rated Rear Pitch mount for about 10K miles, switched down to 70A. As you said, I love the car and its flaws, reminds me of the Evo STi golden era.

My biggest rattle is the rear hatch, mostly from exhaust at specific rpm’s and from my subwoofer at specific volumes with some songs. Otherwise there’s only small rattles that are easily swatted away with a quick smack to the headliner or a-pillars.

I have the 2022 WRX PS manual with 27,000kms on it…it cost $22,000 (plus tax) less than the GRC. I like the GRC a lot, but cannot believe it is anywhere near worth the difference in money. There are plenty of “used” ones on the market now with some of the prices easing finally to where they are only $18,000 more. I could put an order in for a 2024 model year and it would be only $15,000 more than the 2024 WRX PS…would be interested to give it a go but have been told it might be a year out to fulfill the order

The small engine and lack luster interior with lots of hard plastic made me not feel very special and was actually very disappointing. The price tag is way to high for what you actually get. I'm disappointed to hear that a car built in the famed Motomachi plant by specially trained technicians is full of rattles and just "okay" fit and finish. For me the presumed improvement in build quality, on the already famously reliable Toyota Corolla, was a legit selling point. For that kind of money, in a new car, in a Toyota, I expect a rattle- and squeak-free interior. The more reviews of this thing I watch, the more I think...yeah, maybe not the dream car after all.
@Realistick
@Realistick 5 ай бұрын
I'm pretty sure they build most interior panels in a different location. Motomachi is only there for the platform/powertrain and final assembly of the car, idk if you've driven an old wrx sti, evo, or focus rs but it's pretty par for the course there. Disappointing nonetheless, but not something I'd say detracts from the Rally car for the street package!

Lol. You’re still at it huh? You do understand that some of the most notable/reputable car collectors, auto journalists, and youtubers can’t stop singing it’s praises…..this grc and it’s smaller sibling, the gr Yaris. Any of them stuck on the interior? Lol. It’s a footnote If anything. It’s a drivers car pal. Through and through. It’s not a track weapon (although it could do an occasional romp). And it’s certainly not luxurious. What it truly is, one of the most fun, competent, engaging daily drivers out there. And you’d actually have to drive the piss out of one, or at the very least some decent wheel time w it, to know that. Again, reference anyone that has. And you repeatedly talking about the interior won’t change that. Lol. I’ll even go as far to say, these will be sought after in years to come. It’s truly a special car. And this is coming from a current VAG owner owner like yourself, albeit an R8.

It's a hot hatch. The price isn't going towards paying for an interior, it's paying for 300HP in a manual transmission with AWD and LSD. If interior is important at the 40k price point get a premium quattro A3. But that's losing 100HP, manual transmission, LSD, reliability, handling prowess, fun.... Everything has value, expecting to get free features doesn't make sense. Could pay more for the manual GolfR at 47k for similar performance with a better interior, but its better because more money was paid. The average new car price is 48k rn. Not a bad interior for a vehicle that's both more affordable and better performing than average.
