That's a good idea! I used to have a set of ramps but I ended up selling them because a vehicle I owned was too short for the ramps.

@BuildItSimple
@BuildItSimple 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. You really can't go wrong with a Toyota. It's very difficult to find decent ones, used, with lower miles. 130k is a great find! American cars have never been built like the quality of foreign cars.

@@BuildItSimple I've noticed a slight issue, there's this real hard rumble and I can't determine where it coming from? It does it in drive and Park... It won't do it in neutral or reverse. Got on the highway you hear a rubbing noise every second or two..... The tranny shifts great so idk what else I could be.

@@yodead369 Is it a rattle sound?
@yodead369
@yodead369 3 жыл бұрын
@@BuildItSimple it's radiating right underneath the center console to the back passenger side... It's making a sound like you run over those bumps on the side of the road. Those little bumps that are supposed to wake you up if you fall asleep. Lol
@BuildItSimple
@BuildItSimple 3 жыл бұрын
@@yodead369 I am not expert but I have a couple of thoughts. There could be something chipped in your rear differential that is causing the sound. I would drain your fluid and see if any metal comes out of it. Depending on how bad the sound is, it could also be your heat shields rattling. I have always had problems with exhaust heat shields. it could also be many other things.

Great - THANKS! By the way, some goofball left my filter cover off the splash guard/cover on my newly purchased 2010 Highlander Limited -- ANY idea where to get that part only? Or even to find a good pattern to fabricate one? Oh, one more question -- Have you heard about the oil cooler pipes failing on V6's with the factory towing package? Yipes. I gotta change mine out - wish me luck.
@BuildItSimple
@BuildItSimple 2 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that. Back in the day when I was first married, my wife and I took a trip across country in a Subaru Legacy. We stopped to get an oil change and the mechanic warned me that one of my belts was about to break. I had them replace the belt. However, the bonehead who did it left all the belt covers off my engine. The worst part about this was that this oil shop was 10 hours away from my home. Needless to say, I only change my own oil now. I would say call a couple of junkyards for that part you are looking for. You don’t need a brew cover, and I am sure someone has it used.
@AerialLensVideo
@AerialLensVideo 2 жыл бұрын
@@BuildItSimple Nah, what I did right away was to cut a pattern from a paper plate, complete with holes, two tabs, and slight bend to conform to the main cover, then fabricate a new cover using that pattern by simply cutting/drilling an old expired licence plate. Perfect.

So here is my situation, valve gasket is newly replaced.. but timing cover started leaking little . It is not too crazy but it is going to be butt kicking if I have to reseal that thing. Should I just drive and it will be fine as long as I check the oil level right ?
@BuildItSimple
@BuildItSimple 6 ай бұрын
In my opinion, no. Oil leaks should always be fixed. Oils is what makes your engine run smooth and last a long time. I know it's a pain, but you should fix it. That may not be the news you wanted to hear, but good luck.

Where does the small o-ring go?
@BuildItSimple
@BuildItSimple Жыл бұрын
There are 2 O-Rings on the filter cap. The big one goes between the filter cap and the engine block. The small one goes on the very bottom of the filter cap on the small drain plug. I don't mess with the small one every time I change my oil. I probably change the small O-ring once a year.
